Job description

Sidewinders is looking for an experienced, energetic, and hands-on General Manager to lead our Wilson location. The General Manager is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant, including daily operations, team leadership, guest experience, financial performance, and maintaining the culture and standards that make Sidewinders a local favorite.

This is a leadership position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment, takes pride in developing people, and leads from the front. The ideal candidate is organized, accountable, hospitality-driven, and understands that a great restaurant starts with a great team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the restaurant management and service team.
  • Set clear expectations and hold the team accountable to Sidewinders/Blue Collar standards.
  • Lead by example with a positive, professional, and team-first attitude.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and retain exceptional employees.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, and performance conversations.

Restaurant Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day restaurant operations and ensure smooth service.
  • Maintain high standards for food quality, service, cleanliness, safety, and hospitality.
  • Ensure all company policies, procedures, and operating standards are followed.
  • Manage scheduling, labor, inventory, ordering, and daily restaurant needs.
  • Work closely with the kitchen manager and front-of-house leadership teams to maintain consistency.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure the restaurant is properly staffed and prepared for busy periods, special events, and seasonal fluctuations.

Guest Experience

  • Create an exceptional experience for every guest.
  • Be visible and engaged on the floor, interacting with guests and team members.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and turn challenges into opportunities.
  • Build relationships with regular guests and the local Wilson community.

Financial & Business Management

  • Manage restaurant financial performance and work toward sales and profitability goals.
  • Monitor labor costs, food costs, waste, and other operating expenses.
  • Review financial reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain strong inventory and purchasing controls.
  • Work with ownership and leadership to establish and achieve business goals.
  • Help drive sales through local marketing, community involvement, events, and exceptional hospitality.

Culture & Community

  • Represent Sidewinders and Blue Collar Restaurant Group professionally within the community.
  • Build strong relationships with local businesses, vendors, employees, and guests.
  • Participate in community events and initiatives.
  • Help maintain a workplace where employees feel valued, respected, challenged, and supported.
  • Protect and strengthen the Sidewinders brand and culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior restaurant leader.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and financial management.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to be hands-on.
  • Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Ability to hold yourself and others accountable.
  • A genuine interest in the Wilson and Jackson community.
