Job description

Title: Temp Packer/Laborer
Location: Valparaiso, IN
Shift: 12-hour shift; 6pm-6am- week 1 (M, Tu, Sat, Sun) Week 2 (W, Th, Fr). (Train on days)
Pay: $18.50/hour
Job Summary: The Packer/Laborer is responsible for packaging finished products, performing general labor duties, and supporting daily production operations. This position requires someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Package finished products according to company specifications.
  • Inspect products for quality, damage, or defects before packaging.
  • Assemble boxes, cartons, bags, or other packaging materials.
  • Label and properly identify finished products.
  • Stack and organize packaged products in designated areas.
  • Load, unload, move, and stage materials and finished products.
  • Assist production employees with general labor tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and PPE requirements.
  • Operate basic equipment and tools as trained and authorized.
  • Perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Report damaged products, equipment issues, or safety concerns to a supervisor.
  • Meet daily production and packaging goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Frequent lifting (34 - 66% of the day). Must be able to lift up to 55lbs. repeatedly.
  • Constant standing (66 – 100% of the day).
  • Frequent overhead reaching (34 - 66% of the day).
  • Constant use of upper extremities, i.e. hands and arms (66 – 100% of the day).
  • Ability to negotiate on grated floors up to three stories high.
REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, packaging, or general labor experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Prefer the temps to have 8” steel toed boots but will accept 6” steel toed boots.
