Job description

DESCRIPTION If you are interested in gaining employment with the Bladen County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy, Detention Officer or Telecommunicator, please contact Deputy Johnson at (910) 862-6963 or Joe Cotton at (910)862-6960 for additional information. Applicants must be 20 years of age or older for Deputy and Detention Officer, and 18 years of age for a Telecommunicator. In addition, you must be a citizen of the United States, be a high school graduate or possess a GED, possess a valid driver's license, be able to pass a physical, drug, tuberculosis test, and be found Psychologically Suitable through a Psychological Exam.

In addition, you must be a person of high morals and no serious criminal history to include any felonies. Applicants must pick up an application packet at the Sheriff's Office complete the packet and contact Deputy Johnson or Joe Cotton to schedule an appointment. If you meet the above requirements, please contact us for further information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Every Justice Officer employed or certified in North Carolina must meet the minimum standards under 12 NCAC 10 B.0300: *Be a citizen of the United States. *Have been administered a psychological screening examination

*Be at least 20 years of age (18 for Telecommunicators). *Be a high school graduate, or the equivalent (GED). *Have been fingerprinted by the employing agency.

*Have had a medical examination by a licensed physician. *Have produced a negative result on a drug screen. *Make full disclosure of criminal charges and Domestic Violence Orders, both upon application and while holding certification.

*Be of good moral character. *Have a thorough background investigation conducted by the employing agency, to include a personal interview prior to employment. *Not have a prohibitive criminal history record.
