Job Summary

As an Associate Structural - Transmission Line Engineer, you will perform design engineering and analysis of transmission line work supporting global transmission projects, including 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, HVDC and 765kV technologies. You will collect and assimilate data, prepare calculations, develop equipment and material recommendations, and work within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support global transmission projects performing design engineering and analysis of transmission line work.
  • Support large, extensive 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies like HVDC and 765kV.
  • Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
  • Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members and maintain positive client relations through effective communication with the project team. May assist with business development activities.
  • Continue to learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
  • Apply to assigned tasks as appropriate.
  • Continue developing knowledge and comply with Black & Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Prepare and verify less complex engineering deliverables.
  • Perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work.
  • Prepare engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Seek guidance from supervisor or project leadership regarding details of design and coordination.
  • Coordinate with others as assigned by supervisor or project leadership.
  • Focus on the needs of internal clients while understanding external client interests and drivers.
  • Provide support to business development or pursuit activities as needed.
  • Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with utility-scale projects.
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, LPile, MFAD, Sag10 or Ultralite.
  • Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
  • Solid experience using Excel or similar spreadsheets and MathCAD design templates.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
  • Applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) per applicable laws.

Salary

Annual compensation range: $91,047.00 - $179,699.00.
