ELECTRICAL HELPER


BILL GILBERT ELECTRIC is seeking an experienced Electrical Helper with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade. The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, safety-conscious, and capable of working effectively alongside Lead Electricians and Technicians on residential and commercial electrical projects.


The Electrical Helper will assist Lead Technicians with installations, service work, troubleshooting, repairs, and general electrical construction while maintaining a high standard of workmanship, safety, and professionalism.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade.
  • Valid driver’s license with a reliable means of transportation.
  • Must have a basic set of personal hand tools appropriate for the electrical trade.
  • Ability to safely use common electrical tools and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, components, and terminology.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the direction of a Lead Technician.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional appearance and attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work safely in attics, crawl spaces, ladders, and other jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Lead Technicians, customers, contractors, and other personnel.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Lead Technicians with residential and commercial electrical service, installation, repair, and maintenance work.
  • Assist with installing and servicing electrical equipment, devices, fixtures, panels, disconnects, wiring, conduit, boxes, receptacles, switches, lighting, and other electrical components.
  • Pull, route, support, and terminate conductors under the direction of the Lead Technician.
  • Assist with conduit installation, fittings, cutting, bending, and preparation.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical systems and identifying potential issues.
  • Perform material handling, jobsite preparation, cleanup, and organization.
  • Retrieve and prepare materials, tools, and equipment needed to complete assigned work.
  • Assist Lead Technicians with maintaining organized and properly stocked service vehicles.
  • Follow instructions from Lead Technicians and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area throughout the project.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Perform electrical work in accordance with the direction of the Lead Technician and applicable NEC requirements, local codes, and AHJ requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring installations are completed in a professional, code-compliant manner.
  • Notify the Lead Technician of any unsafe conditions, unexpected field conditions, damaged equipment, or issues discovered during the job.
  • Protect the customer’s property and maintain a professional presence while working in occupied homes and businesses.
  • Assist with final cleanup and preparation of the work area before leaving the jobsite.
