Better K9 Pet Resort is an established pet care and dog training company that has proudly served the Inland Empire for over 10 years, with locations in Corona and Riverside, CA. We offer boarding, daycare, training, grooming, enrichment programs, and social events for our customers and their dogs. We are passionate about providing exceptional care while creating engaging content that educates, entertains, and connects with pet owners.

We are seeking a creative, organized, and self-driven Marketing & Social Media Coordinator to lead our digital presence and support our overall marketing efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys content creation, storytelling, social media strategy, email marketing, event promotion, and working in a fast-paced environment surrounded by dogs.

This is not a remote content creator position. The successful candidate will be actively involved in our facilities, events, and day-to-day operations to capture authentic content and support our marketing initiatives.

Position Overview

The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator will lead content creation, social media management, email marketing, and digital engagement efforts for Better K9 Pet Resort and our dog training division, BK9 Working Class.

This individual will be responsible for developing content strategies, managing multiple social media platforms, coordinating marketing campaigns, supporting events and partnerships, and supervising our Social Media Assistant.

This is a hybrid position requiring in-person content capture at our facilities a minimum of two days per week, split between our Corona and Riverside locations, along with occasional attendance at events, conferences, and community outreach opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Management

• Lead and manage Better K9s presence across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, and emerging platforms
• Develop and maintain monthly content calendars
• Create and execute social media campaigns aligned with business goals
• Plan content around promotions, events, seasonal campaigns, and company initiatives
• Identify social media trends, opportunities, and platform updates
• Ensure all content aligns with Better K9s brand voice and marketing objectives

Content Creation

• Capture high-quality photo and video content at our facilities and events
• Create engaging Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, stories, carousels, graphics, and promotional materials
• Write compelling captions and calls-to-action
• Produce content that supports both pet care services and dog training programs
• Understand the differences between marketing daycare, boarding, grooming, enrichment, and dog training services
• Maintain a consistent visual identity across all platforms

Email Marketing

• Build and send customer email campaigns through Mailchimp
• Create promotional, educational, and event-related email content
• Assist with audience segmentation and list management
• Track email performance and recommend improvements

Event & Partnership Marketing

• Support marketing efforts for facility events, community outreach initiatives, fundraisers, and special promotions
• Design flyers, graphics, and promotional materials
• Assist with local partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities
• Attend select events to capture content and support marketing efforts

Community Engagement

• Monitor and respond to social media comments, messages, and community interactions
• Help maintain positive customer relationships through digital channels
• Monitor online reviews and communicate customer feedback when necessary

Analytics & Reporting

• Track key performance indicators across social media and email marketing channels
• Monitor audience growth, engagement, reach, and campaign performance
• Prepare performance reports and provide recommendations for improvement

Team Coordination

• Coordinate content needs and assignments with the Social Media Assistant
• Provide creative direction and support for content projects
• Communicate regularly with kennel technicians, trainers, and office staff to stay informed on what is happening at each facility
• Coordinate with facility teams regarding logistical needs, dog birthdays, special moments, training accomplishments, customer stories, events, promotions, and content opportunities
• Help maintain organized content libraries and workflows

Marketing Support

• Assist with paid social advertising campaigns through Meta Ads Manager
• Utilize AI-powered tools to improve content creation, research, and marketing workflows
• Ensure website promotions, event information, and marketing messaging remain current and accurate
• Support broader marketing initiatives as needed
  

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in social media marketing, digital marketing, content creation, or a related field
• Experience growing and managing brand accounts across multiple social media platforms
• Strong photography and videography skills
• Experience creating short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
• Proficiency with Canva and CapCut or similar editing software
• Experience managing business social media accounts
• Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp
• Strong written communication and copywriting skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
• Comfortable working around dogs of all breeds and sizes
• Reliable transportation
• Portfolio required

Preferred

• Experience in the pet care, dog training, or veterinary industries
• Resides within 60mins of Corona or Riverside area preferred

Schedule & Travel

• Full-time position, Maximum 35 hours per week, 5 days a week
• Hybrid work environment
• Minimum of two in-person days per week required, split between the Corona and Riverside locations
• Flexible scheduling outside of content capture requirements
• Occasional evenings and weekends for events
• Occasional travel for conferences, training opportunities, and special events (approximately 1525%)
