Job description

Best Life Counseling Services is seeking a warm, relational, and clinically skilled California-licensed therapist to join our women-centered group practice. We specialize in supporting women navigating anxiety, burnout, motherhood, perinatal mental health concerns, relationship challenges, and major life transitions.

This is an ideal opportunity for a therapist who wants the flexibility of part-time clinical work while still feeling connected to a collaborative and supportive team. We provide referrals, scheduling and administrative support, EHR access, marketing, professional consultation, and opportunities to grow within a practice with a clearly defined mission.

Clinicians have flexibility in designing their schedules while providing some evening or Saturday availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide compassionate, evidence-based individual therapy to adults, primarily women navigating anxiety, burnout, motherhood, perinatal mental health concerns, relationship stress, and major life transitions.
  • Gradually build and maintain an established caseload averaging 18–20 completed clinical sessions per week.
  • Maintain consistent weekly availability sufficient to support the caseload expectation, including agreed-upon evening or Saturday availability.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment plans and measurable clinical goals.
  • Regularly evaluate client progress and adjust treatment approaches as clinically appropriate.
  • Complete accurate, clinically appropriate progress notes, treatment plans, and other required documentation within the practice’s established timeframes.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with clients and the administrative team regarding scheduling, care coordination, and clinically relevant concerns.
  • Coordinate referrals and collaborate with outside providers when clinically appropriate and with proper client authorization.
  • Participate in team meetings, clinical consultation, training, and professional-development opportunities.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and compliance with California licensing requirements, ethical standards, and practice policies.
  • Contribute to a warm, collaborative, inclusive, and supportive team culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Current, unrestricted California license as an LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.
  • Master’s degree or higher in counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related behavioral-health field.
  • At least one year of post-licensure clinical experience providing psychotherapy to adults.
  • Experience supporting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship concerns, trauma, motherhood-related stress, or significant life transitions.
  • Ability and willingness to gradually build to and maintain an average of 18–20 completed clinical sessions per week.
  • Consistent availability that includes at least two evening blocks per week or agreed-upon Saturday availability.
  • Ability to maintain timely, accurate, and ethically appropriate clinical documentation.
  • Strong clinical judgment, interpersonal communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining engaged with a collaborative team.
  • Comfort providing telehealth services and using an electronic health record system.
  • Reliable internet connection and a private, confidential workspace for virtual sessions.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, trauma-informed, and client-centered care.
  • Current professional liability insurance or willingness to obtain coverage before beginning clinical work.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks and employment onboarding requirements.

Preferred:

  • Advanced training or experience in women’s mental health, perinatal mental health, anxiety, trauma, couples therapy, or another specialty aligned with the practice.
  • Perinatal Mental Health Certification or specialized perinatal mental health training.
  • Experience working in a private-practice or outpatient setting.
  • Familiarity with Simple Practice or a comparable electronic health record system.
  • Interest in contributing to the continued growth of a mission-driven group practice.

COMPENSATION

  • $60–$70 per completed clinical session, based on experience, specialized training, and overall fit.
  • Required non-clinical work is compensated at an administrative rate of $23 per hour. This may include team meetings, required training, care coordination, and other approved administrative responsibilities.
  • No-shows and qualifying late cancellations are compensated at the administrative rate in accordance with practice policy.
  • Practice-related workshops, webinars, community events, and outreach activities are compensated at the administrative rate when attendance is requested or approved in advance.
  • All compensation is processed through payroll as part of this part-time W-2 position.

WHAT WE PROVIDE

  • A gradual caseload-building process supported by client referrals and consultation matching.
  • Comprehensive administrative support, including responding to inquiries, scheduling new clients, and communicating client messages.
  • Marketing support through the practice’s website, professional networks, community partnerships, and social media platforms.
  • A practice-provided laptop.
  • Access to the practice’s electronic health record and telehealth systems.
  • Training and onboarding for the electronic health record, practice procedures, and documentation expectations.
  • Ongoing team consultation and opportunities for clinical collaboration.
  • A flexible schedule developed in collaboration with the clinician.
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with California law and practice policy.
  • Opportunities to participate in compensated workshops, community events, and practice initiatives.
