Our client a successful Private Equity firm in Chicago searching for a Director, Deal Operations, to join their growing team of operations professionals focused on supporting their asset management business.
The position is open due to growth in the organization.
Responsibilities
· Deal Closings/Ongoing Funding Obligations:
o Acting as the operations group’s “face” or “quarterback” for the company's on live deal closings, coordinating logistics with external counterparties and internal teams
o Maintain positive working relationships with external ops teams to ensure communication is open, direct, and honest
o Oversee, mentor, and manage a team of 3-5 professionals based out of Chicago
o Supervise daily cash reconciliations, cash rebalancing, and near-term cash projections.
o Managing relationships with fund administrators, agent banks, custodians, and other 3rd party organizations
· Business Process Improvements:
o Help shape and optimize the operations group’s structure
o Review, modernize, and further institutionalize closing, settlement, and related business processes for the operations team. Act as a point of contact between the broader operations/accounting/valuation group for a number of ad-hoc projects
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree with a preferred concentration in finance, accounting, or management. MBA or Masters in finance, accounting, or management a plus.
· 10+ years progressive work experience in the field or related work.
· Excellent analytical skills with strong working knowledge of Excel.
· Strong attention to detail and highly organized with the proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
· Must be able to prioritize competing priorities and lead successful projects toward completion in a timely manner.
· Excellent written and communication skills.
· Deep understanding of middle market loans and associated settlement mechanics/loan lifecycle, cash/treasury management, and working knowledge of other asset classes—including but not limited to LP investments, CLOs, ABLs, and private equity.
· Demonstrated experience building or formalizing operations workflows in a rapidly scaling environment.
· Working knowledge of ClearPar and Geneva is strongly preferred.
