1:1 Support Staff - Youth Behavioral Support (Direct Care -Cumberland)

Location: Allegany and Garrett Counties
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Salary Range: $20 - $25 per hour
Experience Required: 1-2 years working with youth, behavioral health, healthcare support, or human services populations
About the Role
Wise Minds Therapeutic Services LLC is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Community-Based One-to-One Support Staff to provide direct supervision, mentoring, behavioral support, and life skills coaching to youth receiving out-of-home and community-based services across Maryland.
This role focuses on ensuring the safety, stability, and emotional well-being of youth while supporting the development of social, coping, and independent living skills. Staff work closely with clinical leadership and care coordination teams to implement individualized service plans in home and community settings.
Candidates with experience in behavioral health, assisted living, healthcare support, residential services, youth mentoring, or direct care are encouraged to apply.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Direct Support & Supervision
Provide one-to-one supervision and support to youth in home, school, and community settings
Model appropriate social, coping, and communication skills
Assist youth in developing independence, emotional regulation, and daily living skills
Accompany youth to appointments, activities, and community-based programs as needed
Maintain professional boundaries using a trauma-informed approach
Behavioral & Clinical Support
Implement individualized behavioral strategies based on service plans
Participate in crisis prevention and de-escalation interventions
Monitor and document behavioral progress and daily activities
Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding youth progress and concerns
Reinforce positive behaviors and support youth during emotional challenges
Documentation & Compliance
Complete service notes, progress reports, and timesheets accurately and timely
Maintain confidentiality and comply with DHS, COMAR, and agency standards
Participate in supervision, team meetings, and required trainings
Requirements
Must be 21 years or older with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of experience OR Associate's degree + 1 year in human services, behavioral health, healthcare support, or related field
Experience working with at-risk youth, foster care, behavioral health, assisted living, residential care, or community-based populations preferred
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
Must pass CJIS background check, CPS clearance, and sex offender registry screening
Preferred Backgrounds & Experience
Experience in the following roles is highly valued due to transferable skills in supervision, documentation, client support, crisis response, and community care:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)
Medication Technician (Med Tech)
Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Residential Counselor
Behavioral Health Technician
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Staff
Youth Mentor or Community Support Worker
Training & Certification Requirements
Staff are required to complete the following (preferred at hire, required upon onboarding):
CPR and First Aid Certification
Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) or equivalent
Trauma-Informed Care Training
Mandated Reporter Training
HIPAA / Confidentiality Compliance
DHS-required onboarding and orientation
Wise Minds provides support and reimbursement for required trainings.
Ongoing Professional Development
All staff must complete a minimum of two (2) in-service trainings annually, including topics such as:
Child Safety
De-escalation Techniques
Youth Engagement Strategies
Executive Skills Coaching
Schedule & Compensation
Flexible scheduling available, including day, evening, after-school, and weekend shifts based on youth needs
$20 - $25 per hour based on experience and qualifications
