Job description

Black Bear Talent is hiring an Automation Controls Technician in Waynesboro, VA!

If you enjoy building, troubleshooting, and improving automated systems and want to be the person others rely on to keep things running this is your opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, wire, and troubleshoot automated equipment
  • Programming and modifying PLCs and HMIs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Support robotic systems including setup and troubleshooting
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical issues quickly
  • Work with engineering and maintenance to improve system performance
  • Lead or support automation projects from concept through startup
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes
  • Assist with upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on automation or controls experience
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot systems
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Degree or technical training in automation, mechatronics, or similar is a plus not required
