Senior Medical Science Liaison, Cardiorenal (West Texas)

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a trusted scientific expert representing Bayer in the medical community through the dissemination of and education on scientific data related to Bayer products across the product lifecycle. The MSL establishes proactive long‑term scientific/strategic relationships with key healthcare providers, stakeholders, medical associations and academic centers of excellence.

Responsibilities

• Scientific Expertise
  • Complete core training curriculum and MSL/TA certification.
  • Maintain continuous learning and growth; complete recertification as required.
  • Hold professional licensure with CEU documentation where applicable.
  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge in the therapeutic area beyond peers.
  • Coordinate and lead TA updates, team discussions and training initiatives.
  • Attend and report on local, regional, and national medical conferences.
  • Coordinate coverage of major meetings and prepare high‑quality meeting reports.
  • Identify educational gaps and recommend resources or initiatives.
• External HCP and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Establish long‑term relationships with thought leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Engage proactively at conferences, sites, associations, societies, and other stakeholders.
  • Align local medical plans with US, Global, and Area Business Unit strategies.
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies with cross‑functional teams.
  • Support speaker training, evaluation, and scientific merit assessment.
  • Coordinate advisory boards and internal stakeholder engagement.
• Education
  • Deliver educational presentations to external audiences and stakeholders.
  • Respond to medical inquiries with timely, accurate, and balanced information.
  • Adhere to SOPs and FDA guidance for distribution of scientific information.
  • Prepare and present data to internal audiences, including MA and commercial partners.
• Research
  • Support investigator‑initiated research and site identification.
  • Assist clinical trial teams and engage stakeholders for Bayer‑sponsored trials.
  • Collect data, conduct feasibility and initiation visits, and support study activities.
• Insights
  • Generate insights on HCPs, stakeholders, patients, and treatment landscape.
  • Document and communicate insights to inform strategy.
  • Report new compound development information and potential collaborations.
• Collaboration
  • Partner strategically with cross‑functional stakeholders, including AGM and Field DGOS.
  • Present to internal audiences and lead project teams or task forces.
  • Initiate best‑practice discussions and mentor MSL peers.

  • Champion new data collection and analysis platforms.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, training, and expense reporting.
  • Interpret interaction analytics and adjust engagement plans.
  • Use data to maximize patient and stakeholder engagement.
  • Leverage omnichannel methods for data dissemination and education.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Experience in a scientific or clinical setting, or pharmaceutical industry experience in Medical Affairs, Sales, Marketing, or Clinical Development.
  • MSL experience.
  • Project management skills.
  • Expertise in communicating scientific information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of clinical trial design and medical literature evaluation.
  • Teamwork and relationship‑building ability.
  • 50+% travel and ability to manage a demanding schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to drive company vehicles.
• Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced terminal degree in medical or health sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD) or related field.
  • Working knowledge of FDA and OIG requirements.
  • At least 1 year MSL experience or 2 years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Cardiorenal experience.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $156,000 to $234,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and other standard benefits.
