Job description

Summary of Position

The Clinical Specialist provides high-quality respiratory care in the homecare setting. This role is responsible for delivering, setting up, and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment, as well as educating patients and caregivers on proper use. The specialist performs clinical assessments per physician orders and travels to patient homes or healthcare facilities to deliver, monitor, and retrieve equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory therapy and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under physician supervision.
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments as prescribed.
  • Set up, inspect, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and healthcare personnel on disease processes, therapy management, and equipment use.
  • Monitor patient response to therapy and communicate findings to physicians and referral sources.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant clinical documentation and patient records.
  • Coordinate patient follow-up visits and ensure completion of required documentation (progress reports, equipment checklists, discharge summaries).
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, referral sources, and healthcare teams to plan and implement care.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with company policies and accreditation standards.
  • Support branch operations, including inventory tracking and staff training.
  • Represent the company at professional events, trade shows, and community programs.
  • Stay current with respiratory care advancements through continuing education.


Qualifications


Education & Credentials

  • NBRC credential required: CRT or RRT
  • Current state licensure/credential required
  • Current CPR certification (must be maintained)

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of hospital/critical care experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of home healthcare experience preferred
