Job description

Interior Designer — Del Mar, CA

About Us

Barton + Barton Interiors is a full-service design + build firm — we're a licensed general contractor and interior design studio under one roof. We create spaces that look incredible and function flawlessly, from concept to construction. Award-winning work, high-end clientele, no detail too small.

The Role

We're looking for a full-time, on-site Interior Designer with 3–5 years of experience to join our Del Mar studio. You'll work alongside our senior designers and project leads, helping bring projects from concept through construction — not running jobs solo, but playing a key hands-on role at every stage. This is a great fit for someone who wants to keep growing as a designer on high-end residential and new construction projects, with strong mentorship along the way.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in developing design concepts, space plans, and mood boards
  • Select and specify finishes, furniture, lighting, and fixtures (FF&E)
  • Help prepare construction drawings and client presentations
  • Support coordination with architects, contractors, and vendors
  • Assist with shop drawing and sample review
  • Join site visits to help track progress against design intent
  • Provide studio support — organizing samples, materials, and resource library
  • Manage and maintain client files and project documentation
  • Help track project budgets and schedules across multiple projects

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of professional interior design experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design (or related design field) preferred
  • Strong FF&E selection and specification skills
  • Solid space planning and concept development ability
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit or similar, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Good presentation and client-facing communication skills
  • Comfortable collaborating with vendors and trades on-site
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Team player who's eager to learn and grow within a design + build environment

Benefits

  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • 401(k)
