Job description

Bar Parisette is looking for a passionate and dedicated sous chef to join our team. Candidates with a minimum of two years of management experience will be prioritized, but we are always willing to train the right person. Our menu takes cues from modern Parisian wine bars and bistros, as well as midwest seasonality. While consistently featuring bistro staples and classics, our goal is to take a lighter approach to these dishes, and to keep a focus on featuring vegetables prominently on all dishes. The sous chef will assist the executive chef in menu planning, recipe development, and staff training. Other responsibilities include:

  • expediting when necessary
  • planning and executing wine dinners, tastings, and other special events
  • effectively control food cost by properly managing inventory and ordering
  • assist in managing the labor budget
  • ensure all presentation and quality standards are met
  • teach and retain staff by fostering a healthy environment conducive to learning
  • maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen
  • communicate effectively with all team members, participate in regular management meetings, and conduct pre-shifts as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years upper level kitchen management (sous chef)
  • Genuine interest in food and wine
