Closing Culinary Supervisor

Position Summary

The Closing Culinary Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations during evening service while ensuring exceptional food quality, cleanliness, and team performance. This role leads the kitchen staff, maintains food safety standards, coordinates service, and ensures the kitchen is fully prepared for the following day’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead all kitchen staff during closing shifts.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and plated according to restaurant standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with health department regulations.
  • Monitor ticket times and coordinate with the front-of-house team to ensure efficient service.
  • Train, coach, and mentor line cooks and prep staff.
  • Verify proper food storage, labeling, rotation (FIFO), and temperature logs.
  • Complete nightly closing procedures, including cleaning checklists and equipment shutdown.
  • Conduct end-of-shift inventory and communicate product shortages to management.
  • Minimize food waste while maintaining quality standards.
  • Resolve kitchen issues quickly and professionally while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Ensure all staff follow company policies, safety procedures, and sanitation standards.
  • Secure the kitchen and complete all closing documentation before leaving.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of kitchen leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering is preferred.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work safely in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
