Bailey-Harris Construction Co., Inc. Job Description for aCarpenter/Laborer:


SUMMARY:

  • Form Carpenters and/or Rough Carpenters should be able to accurately layout, measure, and cut materials to build or erect forms for placing concrete into. You should have a general understanding of how form systems work and the parts and pieces that make them up. This position will also tie steel for reinforcements and assist in concrete placement. In addition to form building, rough carpenters should have knowledge of additional assemblies required to make a building ready for nishes. This could include: setting anchor bolts to proper line and elevation, setting door and window frames plumb, level and square, etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Report on time and in sound physical condition for work every day.
  • Construct concrete formwork; handle and tie reinforcing in place.
  • Ability to Learn new/different forming systems.
  • Placing and consolidating concrete in formwork.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area at all times.
  • Must understand safe work practices relating to this position. PPE, tool maintenance, etc.
  • Communicate material needs prior to running out.

CARPENTRY REQUIREMENTS - General:

  • Procient with power tools such as: Circular saws, drill motors, hammer drills, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires the knowledge of:

  • Occupation hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the workplace. Operating principles of all hand tools.

Position requires the ability to:

  • Listen effectively
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Perform manual labor such as digging or shoveling.
  • Move objects weighing up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Safely and eciently operate and use associated tools and equipment.
  • Work as a team member.
  • Walk over rough, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
  • May be assigned to work shifts that include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and may be called back for emergency work.
  • Experience work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements

Position Experience and Education:

  • Any combination of experience and education as listed below:
    Experience - Preferred 3-5 years of experience in concrete form work, and/or rough carpentry.
  • Education - High school graduation or equivalent is desirable.
