Bright Community Services

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for the health, safety, and protection of rights of each individual receiving services. DSPs implement coordinated service plans, provide daily support, and help individuals participate fully in their communities.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in home, community, and residential environments

• Implement person‐centered planning and individualized support strategies

• Assist with instrumental activities of daily living (household tasks, transportation, appointments, community outings, food shelves, meetings, etc.)

• Document cares, activities, observations, and individual responses

• Monitor and support daily interactions and programming

• Recognize and report concerns regarding care, safety, or programming

• Uphold HIPAA, 245D rights, and maltreatment reporting procedures

• Maintain privacy of personal, financial, service, and health information

• Provide basic first aid when needed

• Assist during mental health crises using de‐escalation techniques

• Complete household cleaning, disinfecting, laundry, and property care

• Attend required trainings and staff meetings

• Socialize and engage with individuals daily

• Follow all Bright Community Services policies, procedures, and safety practices
