Position Summary

Bollinger Construction is seeking two full-time, on-site Field Framing Assistants – one based in Northern Virginia (serving projects in Loudoun County, Chantilly, Fairfax, Vienna and Alexandria) and one based in Richmond.

The Field Framing Assistant supports the Foreman and Framing Superintendent in coordinating daily field operations for residential, multifamily, and commercial wood framing projects. This position assists with crew coordination, quality control, safety compliance, material management, production tracking, and communication between subcontracted framing crews and project leadership. The Field Framing Assistant serves as an emerging field leader who learns to supervise jobsite operations while ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and schedules. This is a hands-on position that combines field work and daily coordination responsibilities with leadership development toward becoming a Foreman.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist the Foreman with daily coordination of subcontracted framing crews.
  • Monitor work quality to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and company standards.
  • Promote and enforce jobsite cleanliness, company safety policies and OSHA, MOSH and VOSH requirements.
  • Help coordinate materials, equipment, and deliveries to maintain productivity.
  • Track daily production and report progress to project leadership.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and other trades.
  • Identify and communicate field issues that may impact schedule or quality.
  • Assist with punch list completion and quality inspections.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, photographs, and field documentation.
  • Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Previous framing or construction experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic construction math.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to support and collaborate effectively with framing subcontractors and other team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and blueprints.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction certification is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to walk active construction sites, safely access elevated work areas via ladders, stairs and scaffolding, occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
