Blended Learning Teacher Assistant
Job Description

General Purpose of the Position

The Blended Learning Teacher Assistant (BLTA), under the supervision of administration and collaborating teachers, provides instructional support, student monitoring, and targeted interventions to support student success in both in-person and online learning environments. The BLTA works directly with students in small group and one-on-one settings to reinforce instruction, promote engagement, and support progress toward course completion and graduation.

This role supports the implementation of the school’s blended learning model by assisting students with coursework in Canvas (LMS), monitoring progress, and helping address barriers related to attendance, behavior, and academic performance. The BLTA collaborates with teachers, counselors, and student support teams to ensure students receive appropriate interventions aligned with MTSS and PBIS frameworks.

The BLTA provides instructional support and student monitoring but does not serve as the teacher of record or hold responsibility for grading, curriculum design, or final instructional decisions.

Terms of Employment

10-month contract in accordance with the Contract of Employment.

Salary: In alignment with the BANV Governing Board-approved salary schedule based on experience and education.
 Salary Range: $12 - $25.00 ( Salary Schedule based on years' experience and degree held.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Instructional Support & Student Engagement

• Provide direct instructional support to students in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Assist students with coursework in Canvas (LMS), including assignments, pacing, and task completion.
• Reinforce teacher-directed instruction and support student understanding of academic content.
• Ensure students remain engaged, on-task, and actively participating in learning activities.
• Support students in developing effective study habits, organization, and time management skills.

2. Student Progress Monitoring & Intervention

• Monitor student progress daily and identify students who are off-track academically.
• Provide targeted interventions and support aligned to teacher guidance and MTSS frameworks.
• Support implementation of Academic Seminar, including progress monitoring, goal setting, and use of tools such as STEP cards.
• Communicate student concerns related to academic performance, attendance, or behavior to teachers, department teams, and administration.

3. Classroom Management & School Culture

• Support a positive, structured, and academically focused learning environment.
• Assist in implementing classroom procedures and behavioral expectations.
• Support implementation of School-Wide Positive Behavior Supports (SWPBS) and PBIS strategies.
• Use school systems to monitor and document student behavior and progress.
• Provide redirection and support to students as needed to maintain a safe and productive environment.
• Assist in school-wide test/assessment administration

4. Collaboration & Communication

• Maintain open communication with teachers, administration, counselors, and support staff.
• Communicate with students and families, as appropriate, to support student success and remove barriers to learning.
• Collaborate with attendance, counseling, and social services teams to support student interventions.

5. Data Systems & Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate records related to student attendance, progress, participation, and interventions.
• Utilize school systems (e.g., Canvas, Infinite Campus, or other tools) to monitor and support student performance.
• Follow all school policies and procedures related to data entry, documentation, and reporting.

6. Health, Safety & School Operations

• Follow school safety procedures and protocols.
• Support classroom and campus expectations related to health and safety.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, prepared, and organized learning environment as needed.

7. Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
• Determine when to act independently and when to refer situations to teachers or administration.
• Participate in training and professional development as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Build effective, positive, trusting relationships with challenging students

• Proficiency with technology and ability to learn educational platforms (Canvas, Infinite Campus preferred)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to build rapport with at-risk students
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Ability to support diverse learners, including EL and SPED populations
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to student needs and behaviors
• Ability to work in teams collaboratively, constructively and respectfully to identify issues and develop solutions. Ability to contribute to a sense of accountability and trust within groups and teams.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent
• Experience working with youth, preferably in an educational or community setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
• Nevada substitute or teaching license
• Experience working with at-risk or alternative education students
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Position Requirements:

1. Proven ability to meet personal and team performance goals and objectives
2. Excellent customer service, time management, and communication skills
3. Strong PC skills with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
4. Experience in school or community settings working directly with at-risk students, assisting with intervention and resolution of difficulties involving student attendance, academic behavior, etc.

1. Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distance objects with clarity, identify and distinguish objects, and be visually observant of classroom behavior and learning activities.

3. Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups.
4. Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; ability to occasionally restrain or move up to 50-100 pounds if required to intervene during student safety issues.
5. This type of work requires occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, or reaching for extended periods of time.
6. This type of work requires occasional or frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling during crisis scenarios such as hard lockdowns, earthquake drills, etc.
7. Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area.
8. Ability to operate, activate, and use a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
9. Employees in this classification may be subject to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, high noise levels, and various work-related hazards such as bloodborne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
