Job Description – Warehouse TechnicianPosition SummaryThe Warehouse Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse and inventory functions across plumbing, electric, and HVAC divisions. This role ensures that materials, tools, and equipment are organized, stocked, and distributed efficiently to support field crews. The Warehouse Technician will be responsible for fleet readiness, enforce safety and compliance standards, and maintain accurate reporting on inventory and costs. Experience in the service industry working with Plumbing, Electric, HVAC, etc. a plus, along with knowledge of Service Titan.
Key ResponsibilitiesWarehouse & Inventory ManagementResponsible all warehouse activities including receiving, storing, staging, and issuing materials. Which includes working with vendors on consignment.
Implement and maintain inventory control systems to reduce shrinkage, improve accuracy, and ensure stock availability.
Responsible for staging and loading of materials for plumbing, electric, and HVAC crews to minimize downtime.
Track high-value tools and specialty equipment (locators, cameras, HVAC testers, etc.).
Inventory count required quarterly for warehouse and tech trucks.
Consignment count and responsibility.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse facilities.
Fleet & Equipment OversightCoordinate preventive maintenance schedules and inspections for company vehicles and trailers.
Track and schedule repairs for plumbing, electric, and HVAC equipment (pressers, pipe machines, HVAC gauges, etc.).
Ensure drivers and technicians follow DOT, OSHA, and company safety guidelines.
Safety & ComplianceEnforce warehouse safety protocols including PPE use, forklift operation, and material handling.
Conduct routine safety inspections and training refreshers.
Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local codes for material storage (refrigerants, electrical components, etc.).
Staff Supervision & LeadershipReporting & CommunicationGenerate weekly reports on inventory levels, material usage, and purchase needs.
Prepares turn in sheets for bi-weekly payroll for inventory used during that period by techs.
Track material costs by division (plumbing, electric, HVAC) and report to operations/finance.
Maintain records of fleet expenses, repairs, and downtime.
Coordinate with purchasing to forecast needs based on workload and seasonal demand.
Qualifications3–5 years warehouse or logistics experience
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC materials strongly preferred.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency with inventory software (e.g., ServiceTitan, NetSuite, or similar).
Valid driver’s license
Forklift certification a plus.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Inventory accuracy (% variance).
On-time staging/delivery rate for field crews.
Reduction in material waste/shrinkage.
Preventive maintenance compliance rate for fleet/equipment.
Safety incident frequency and compliance scores.
