The Assistant Teacher supports the Teacher in fulfilling the following: creates, maintains, and manages a safe, attractive, warm, and challenging learning environment for young children and incorporates developmentally appropriate learning activities which meet the needs of the group as well as those of individual children, toward achieving School Readiness; promotes family engagement, advocating for parent inclusion as an ongoing part of their child’s educational experience and recognizing them as their child’s first teacher; provides leadership and direction for classroom staff to develop a team approach for a smooth delivery of services to children and families.

This position helps in various classrooms as needed.

BCMW Community Services is a community action agency in Southern Illinois. Head Start is a federally funded preschool program for low-income children and their families. BCMW offers both Head Start Preschool (ages 3-5), center-based, and Early Head Start (ages 6 weeks - 3), center-based and home-based options.
