Work Environment

This position allows for a remote work setting, where counselors can utilize teletherapy tools to reach clients effectively while maintaining a flexible schedule. Our facility promotes a collaborative culture, empowering our staff through continuous training and development. Counselors will work Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, engaging in meaningful aspects of mental health care from the comfort of their own space, while also being part of a supportive larger team.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough crisis assessments and provide intervention for clients experiencing urgent mental health emergencies, ensuring timely support and effective care.
• Deliver compassionate counseling to individuals and families navigating the complexities of addiction, applying evidence-based therapeutic techniques to facilitate recovery.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency response teams to ensure client safety during crises and to coordinate necessary actions.
• Implement de-escalation strategies during high-pressure situations, employing critical thinking and crisis intervention skills.
• Provide follow-up care, tailoring individualized care plans and recommendations to support ongoing recovery and mental health improvement.
• Participate in professional development opportunities aimed at enhancing crisis counseling proficiencies.

The clients at Avis Behavioral Health Center consist mainly of individuals struggling with substance use disorders and related mental health crises. Our counselors take on the responsibility of addressing highly sensitive issues such as trauma, emotional distress, and suicidal ideation, ensuring a safe, culturally competent, and empathetic environment. This role demands not only clinical expertise but also a deep commitment to fostering trust and understanding with diverse populations in distress.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credentials.
• A minimum of three years of recent experience in crisis intervention and mental health counseling.
• Additional training or specialization in trauma-informed care and crisis counseling is preferred.
• Evidence of proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build strong connections with clients.

Compensation and Benefits

Avis Behavioral Health Center offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and expertise, which may be adjusted based on performed skills and contributions.
