Job Description

This Assistant Attorney General (AAG) in the Professional & Financial Regulation Division will:

• Advise the Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection, Office of Securities and other agencies within the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (DPFR).
• Prosecute administrative cases before DPFR agencies and professional licensing boards.
• Advises other state agencies and professional licensing boards.
• Prosecute professional licensing cases in administrative tribunals within and affiliated with DPFR.
• Advise agency employees, handle disciplinary complaints against licensed professionals, and perform agency rule review.
• Defend agency decisions on appeal to the Superior Court.
• Enforce agency orders in court.

Minimum Qualifications

• Member of the Maine Bar in good standing.
• Demonstrated interest in complex state regulation.
• Strong legal advocacy and writing skills.
• Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
• One to three years of legal practice with demonstrated proficiency in administrative law and litigation (preferred).
