Remote | Part-Time | Flexible Schedule | Unpaid 90-day internship |

Approximately 2–4 hours per week that includes hands-on mentoring, structured assignments, feedback, and professional development.


ABOUT THE ROLE

Athletic Pride Alliance is being built to create meaningful connections among athletes, coaches, teams, organizations, and sports communities.

We’re looking for a curious, dependable Community Development Intern who wants hands-on experience helping build relationships and grow the Alliance from the ground up.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Research athletes, coaches, teams, organizations, and potential partners

• Identify outreach, partnership, and collaboration opportunities

• Help develop thoughtful outreach for different audiences

• Track contacts, responses, follow-ups, and opportunities

• Help us learn which audiences and outreach approaches produce results

• Bring your own ideas for how the Alliance can provide value to athletes and sports communities


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Strong communication and follow-through

• Comfortable reaching out to people and organizations

• Curious and willing to research before making contact

• Able to work independently and ask questions when needed

• Comfortable supporting athletes across different identities and communities, including LGBTQ+/queer athletes

• Interest in sports, community building, partnerships, communications, marketing, psychology, sociology, or related areas

Athletes, former athletes, coaches, and people with sports or community experience are encouraged to apply, but sports experience is not required.


MENTORSHIP + LEARNING

This is a learning-focused internship. You’ll receive direct mentoring, structured assignments, feedback, and regular check-ins while developing practical skills in outreach, relationship building, community research, partnerships, communication, and strategic thinking.

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong written and verbal communication

• Interest in community development, outreach, athlete engagement, or relationship building

• Willingness to research and learn about different athlete communities

• Comfortable supporting LGBTQ+/queer athletes and inclusive sports communities

• Dependable and able to work independently

• Located in the United States


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Athlete, former athlete, coach, or sports/community experience

• Experience with outreach, partnerships, teams, clubs, campus organizations, or volunteer organizations

• Coursework or interest in sports business, communications, marketing, psychology, sociology, or community development
