Associate Vice President, FinanceThe Associate Vice President, Finance is a key member of the Finance Leadership Team responsible for leading enterprise-wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance management, and strategic decision support across ASU Enterprise Partners and its affiliates. The role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, integrating financial insights, strategic analysis, enterprise performance management, and risk-informed decision support to advance institutional priorities, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and ensure long-term financial sustainability. The position provides leadership for enterprise planning processes, strategic initiatives, organizational transformation efforts, governance activities, and emerging priorities while fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement.What you’ll doStrategic Planning & Decision SupportLeads the long-range strategic financial planning function and development of annual operating budgets for ASUEP and affiliates, incorporating enterprise risks, opportunities, and scenario-based planning to support organizational decision-making.Serves as a strategic advisor to executive and business leaders across ASUEP, aligning financial resources, organizational capabilities, and operational priorities with enterprise strategy.Structures, builds, and maintains complex financial, operational, and risk-informed decision-making models that provide meaningful business insights and practical recommendations.Builds and reviews detailed assumptions that drive multi-year financial planning models and works with business leaders to establish performance targets and resource allocation strategies.Conducts analyses, prepares reports, and advises on the feasibility, cost effectiveness, and regulatory implications of strategic initiatives, business proposals, and ongoing operations.Prepares forecasts of income and expenditure and continually evaluates long-range financial plans, reserve strategies, revenue projections, and expense trends.Performance Management & AnalyticsDevelops and maintains performance measurement frameworks, dashboards, and executive reporting that provide actionable insights into financial results, strategic objectives, operational effectiveness, and organizational risks.Identifies key business challenges and leverages advanced analytics, visualization tools, and performance metrics to enhance decision-making and organizational effectiveness.Ensures planning and performance metrics align with organizational objectives, mission fulfillment, accountability, and continuous improvement.Communicates complex financial, operational, and strategic insights clearly and effectively to executive leadership, governing bodies, and other stakeholders.Develops and advances enterprise performance management capabilities, frameworks, and reporting practices to enhance accountability, transparency, and organizational effectiveness.Risk Management & GovernanceLeads organization-wide risk assessment, scenario planning, and risk monitoring efforts, evaluating financial, operational, strategic, compliance, and external risks that may impact organizational objectives and long-range plans.Integrates risk management practices into strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance management, and resource allocation processes while fostering accountability for risk ownership and mitigation across the organization.Oversees planning, performance management, and risk management technologies, methodologies, and reporting frameworks, ensuring effective governance, actionable insights, data integrity, user adoption, and continuous improvement.Partners with executive leadership and governing bodies to provide analysis, recommendations, and decision support related to organizational performance, strategic priorities, enterprise risks, and major initiatives.Leadership & Organizational EffectivenessIdentifies and leads cross-functional initiatives that improve processes, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and leverage technology, automation, and innovation to support scalability and growth.Acts as the subject matter expert for planning, performance management, and related decision-support tools and technologies.Hires, develops, mentors, and retains a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Serves as a strategic resource to executive leadership and may assume leadership responsibility for special projects, enterprise initiatives, governance efforts, organizational transformations, operational improvements, and other priorities as required to support the evolving needs of ASUEPWhat you'll needBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other related disciplineTen (10+) years of relevant experience, including experience in data-driven decision-making roles such as finance, financial planning & analytics (FP&A), economics, statistics or similar fieldFive (5) years of supervisory and/or leadership experienceRelevant qualificationsExceptional analytical, financial, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial, operational, and organizational information and translate insights into actionable recommendations.Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, business modeling, scenario analysis, and performance management.Strong business acumen with the ability to connect financial performance, organizational strategy, operational effectiveness, and risk considerations to support enterprise decision-making.Proven ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, identify key issues and opportunities, and provide clear recommendations to executive leadership.Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making and drive outcomes through executive presence, strategic analysis, and relationship management.Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex concepts and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, governing boards, and diverse stakeholder groups.Demonstrated success building collaborative relationships and partnering effectively with internal and external stakeholders across a complex organizational environment.Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and organizational change.Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational systems and provide leadership that supports integrated planning, policy development, governance, and strategic execution.Knowledge of change management principles and best practices, preferably within higher education or similarly complex mission-driven organizations.Advanced analytical, modeling, and decision-support capabilities, including experience with financial systems, planning platforms, business intelligence tools, and data visualization technologies.Demonstrated leadership ability with a track record of attracting, developing, mentoring, and retaining high-performing teams.Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and accountability when managing sensitive organizational information.Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic and evolving environment.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and through formal presentations.Demonstrated adaptability and resilience, with the ability to operate effectively amid ambiguity, change, and competing organizational priorities.Preferred education and experienceProfessional certification such as CPA, CGMA, ACMA, or similar credential.Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.Experience supporting executive leadership teams, governing boards, or large-scale organizational transformation efforts.Preferred skills and abilitiesKnowledge of enterprise risk management, governance, and organizational performance management practices.Experience operating within a complex,
