Astra Wear is a female-founded Pilates and movement brand inspired by wellness, femininity, and the women who do it all. We create studio essentials that blend performance, comfort, and style designed to feel just as good as they look.

As a growing startup, we’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Design Intern to join us as we expand our product assortment and develop future collections. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with the founder and gain hands-on experience in product design, collection development, branding, and building an emerging consumer brand from the ground up.

Position Overview

The Design Intern will support Astra Wear in developing new grip sock designs, Pilates mat towels, and future studio accessories.

You’ll help bring collections from inspiration and mood boards to colors, patterns, graphics, and manufacturer-ready concepts while contributing fresh ideas that align with the Astra Wear aesthetic.

This role is perfect for a student interested in fashion design, textile design, graphic design, product design, or a related creative field who loves Pilates, wellness, fashion, and feminine lifestyle brands.

Please note: This internship is unpaid and eligible for college credit.

ResponsibilitiesProduct & Collection Design

• Assist in designing new grip sock styles, patterns, colorways, and graphics
• Support the development of Pilates mat towels and other studio accessories
• Create digital product mockups and design concepts for upcoming collections
• Help develop color palettes, prints, patterns, typography, and graphic elements
• Translate mood boards and creative direction into cohesive product concepts
• Assist with creating and updating product specifications and design files for manufacturers
• Review samples and help document design adjustments, color corrections, and product feedback

Trend & Creative Research

• Research emerging trends across Pilates, activewear, fashion, wellness, and lifestyle
• Create mood boards and visual research for upcoming seasonal collections
• Identify new colors, prints, silhouettes, materials, and design details that fit the Astra Wear customer
• Bring fresh ideas for future products, limited-edition drops, and collaborations

Brand & Creative

• Collaborate directly with the founder on collection concepts and creative direction
• Help ensure new product designs remain consistent with Astra Wear’s visual identity
• Assist with product launch assets, line sheets, lookbooks, and other creative materials as needed
• Contribute ideas for packaging, product presentation, and the overall customer experience
• Occasionally assist with photoshoots, content days, and collection launches

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program and eligible for academic credit
• Studying Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, or a related field
• Strong eye for color, typography, patterns, and visual composition
• Passionate about fashion, Pilates, wellness, and product design
• Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; Canva experience is a plus
• Ability to create digital product mockups and translate ideas into clear visual concepts
• Strong attention to detail and organization
• Creative self-starter who is comfortable sharing ideas and taking feedback
• Portfolio showcasing relevant design, illustration, textile, fashion, or product work
• Reliable transportation for occasional in-person design meetings, shoots, or events

• Internship Length: 3 months, with potential for extension
• Schedule: Flexible based on school requirements
• Location: Hybrid — Los Angeles
• Compensation: Unpaid; eligible for academic credit
