Job description

Contract Recruiter

Location: Greater Austin, Texas Area

Company: Ashton North LLC

Position Type: Contract

About Ashton North

Ashton North is a growing executive and professional recruiting firm focused on helping companies find the people who move their businesses forward. We partner closely with our clients and take a relationship driven approach to recruiting and workforce support.

As we continue to expand our presence in Texas, we are looking for an experienced Contract Recruiter to support Ashton North clients throughout the greater Austin area.

The Opportunity

This is more than a traditional recruiting position. We are looking for someone who can become a trusted extension of Ashton North and the clients we serve.

The Contract Recruiter will support recruiting across manufacturing, industrial and production environments, working on positions ranging from hourly production and skilled trades through engineering, technology, IT, professional and leadership roles.

This person needs to have the range and personality to build relationships at every level of an organization. One conversation may be with an hourly employee on the production floor, while the next could be with an engineer, IT professional, plant manager or member of the executive leadership team.

In addition to recruiting, this individual should be comfortable handling basic pre-employment and workforce administration activities, supporting payroll related processes and helping answer general employee HR questions when needed.

Prior experience working in an onsite recruiting, staffing or HR support capacity within a manufacturing, industrial or production environment would be highly valuable.

What You Will Be Doing

Recruiting and Talent Acquisition

  • Manage full cycle recruiting across hourly, skilled trades, professional, technical and leadership positions
  • Recruit within manufacturing, industrial and production environments
  • Recruit engineering professionals across disciplines based on client needs
  • Recruit technology and IT professionals, including technical and business systems positions
  • Support searches ranging from production floor positions through management and executive level roles
  • Partner directly with hiring managers and business leaders to understand workforce needs and position requirements
  • Source, screen and interview candidates
  • Coordinate interviews and maintain strong communication throughout the hiring process
  • Extend offers and support candidates through acceptance and start date
  • Develop local and regional candidate pipelines for recurring and hard to fill positions
  • Provide regular recruiting and hiring updates to Ashton North and client leadership

Pre-Employment and Onboarding Support

  • Coordinate pre-employment activities and required documentation
  • Assist with background checks, drug screens and other client specific pre-employment requirements
  • Ensure new hire paperwork is completed accurately and on time
  • Support new employee onboarding and orientation activities
  • Maintain organized employee and recruiting documentation

Workforce and HR Support

  • Assist with payroll related information, timekeeping questions and basic payroll administration as needed
  • Serve as a first point of contact for basic employee HR questions
  • Help employees navigate routine policies, processes and workplace questions
  • Escalate more complex employee relations, payroll or HR matters to the appropriate Ashton North or client leadership
  • Develop strong relationships with employees, supervisors, hiring managers and client leadership

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years of recruiting, staffing or talent acquisition experience
  • Experience recruiting within manufacturing, industrial or production environments
  • Experience recruiting both hourly and professional level positions
  • Experience recruiting engineering and technical positions
  • Experience recruiting technology and IT positions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people at every level, from hourly production employees to executives and C-suite leadership
  • Understanding of full cycle recruiting from sourcing through onboarding
  • Working knowledge of basic pre-employment processes and new hire documentation
  • Comfortable supporting basic payroll, timekeeping and employee HR questions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an outgoing, approachable and professional personality
  • Highly customer focused with an understanding that both the client and candidate experience matter
  • Ability to work independently while representing Ashton North professionally with clients and candidates
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple openings, priorities and different types of searches simultaneously

Preferred Experience

  • Previous onsite recruiter, staffing manager or HR coordinator experience
  • Experience supporting high volume hourly manufacturing recruitment
  • Experience recruiting engineering, IT and technical professionals
  • Experience working directly with plant managers, operations leaders, engineering leaders and frontline supervisors
  • Experience interacting with senior leadership and executives
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems, payroll or timekeeping systems
  • Experience supporting multiple client locations or changing workforce needs

The Person Who Will Succeed Here

The right person for this role will have a great personality, strong people skills and a genuine customer service mindset.

You need to enjoy working with people and be able to adjust your communication style depending on who is sitting across from you. You should be just as comfortable walking onto a production floor and talking with an hourly employee as you are discussing a difficult engineering search with a hiring manager or sitting across the table from a CEO or other senior executive.

We want someone who listens, builds trust and follows through. Someone who understands that recruiting is ultimately about people and relationships, while still being able to manage the details and processes required to deliver for our clients.

This role requires ownership, responsiveness and the ability to represent Ashton North in a way that strengthens our relationships with both clients and candidates.

Why Ashton North

Ashton North is continuing to grow, and Texas is an important market for our firm. This opportunity provides the chance to work directly with our clients, become an important part of our presence in the greater Austin market and help us continue building a recruiting model centered around relationships, responsiveness and results.

Fit is everything.
