Buyer Planner

Ashton North is partnering with a fast growing mid size manufacturing company in the Cleveland area to identify a Buyer Planner who will support production operations by ensuring the timely procurement and planning of materials used in manufacturing.
This role plays an important part in maintaining production continuity by ensuring materials are available to support manufacturing schedules while working closely with operations, planning, and production teams.
The Buyer Planner will focus on a specific production value stream and will manage the procurement and planning of materials used in that portion of the manufacturing process.
The Opportunity
The company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities and increasing production capacity to meet growing demand. This role will support the operational teams responsible for maintaining production flow by ensuring material availability, managing supplier orders, and coordinating closely with production teams.
The position is well suited for someone who enjoys working closely with manufacturing teams and who takes pride in maintaining strong material planning and procurement execution that supports production performance.
Key Responsibilities
Material Procurement
- Procure raw materials, components, and supplies required to support manufacturing operations.
- Manage purchase orders and supplier communication to ensure materials are delivered on time and aligned with production schedules.
- Maintain supplier communication related to order status, delivery timelines, and supply requirements.
Production Planning Support
- Work closely with production and value stream managers to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.
- Monitor production requirements and adjust purchasing activity as needed to maintain supply continuity.
- Participate in daily production meetings to ensure sourcing and planning activities remain aligned with manufacturing priorities.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate material supply while minimizing excess inventory.
- Review inventory levels and assist with managing slow moving or obsolete materials when necessary.
- Maintain accurate inventory and purchasing records within internal systems.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production teams, engineering, quality, and sourcing leadership to ensure procurement activities support operational needs.
- Support supplier communication related to production requirements and material availability.
- Assist in resolving supply issues that could impact manufacturing schedules.
Continuous Improvement
- Support initiatives aimed at improving procurement workflows, inventory management, and supply planning processes.
- Participate in cross functional improvement initiatives related to manufacturing efficiency and supply chain performance.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain planning, or inventory management within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP or MRP systems and strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple purchasing activities simultaneously.
- Comfort working closely with production teams and participating in daily manufacturing discussions.
- Bachelor's degree is helpful but not required.
