The ideal candidate is smart, dependable, proactive, and exceptionally organized. They have strong attention to detail, good common sense, and the ability to take direction and follow a task through to completion. They are comfortable shifting between computer-based work and hands-on tasks and are willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing things well, enjoys being part of a small team, and is interested in learning, contributing, and growing with Asha Maía Design.

Job Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain an organized design studio, including the sample library, project materials, supplies, styling inventory, and storage areas

  • Provide hands-on support during project installations and photoshoots, including preparation, organization, styling support, and on-site assistance
  • Assist with vendor follow-up, order tracking, returns, exchanges, and related documentation
  • Run studio and project errands, including pickups and drop-offs of samples, materials, returns, styling items, and other project needs
  • Support the studio's social media efforts, including Instagram engagement and capturing photo and video content during site visits, installations, photoshoots, and other behind-the-scenes moments
  • Assist with organizing social media content, drafting captions, and developing and executing content ideas in collaboration with the Principal Designer
  • Provide administrative support to the Principal Designer, Project Coordinator, and broader team
  • Assist with other day-to-day needs that help the studio and client projects run smoothly

Who We’re Looking For

  • Exceptionally organized, accurate, and detail-oriented
  • Dependable and responsible with strong follow-through
  • Proactive, resourceful, and able to use good judgment and common sense
  • Able to take direction and work independently once a task has been assigned
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Professional, personable, and comfortable interacting with clients, vendors, contractors, and trade partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Tech-savvy and able to learn new software and systems quickly
  • Comfortable capturing quality photo and video content using a smartphone and familiar with Instagram and social media
  • Previous experience in an administrative, operations, project-support, hospitality, retail, design, marketing, or other detail-oriented environment preferred
  • Interior design, architecture, construction, home furnishings, or social media experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must have a car, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation for local travel
  • Must be comfortable working in clients' homes and at active project sites
  • Must be able to perform light physical work, including lifting and carrying samples, boxes, and styling accessories
  • Must be dog-friendly

Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time, in-person position with approximately 14 regularly scheduled paid hours per week, typically across two weekdays, with additional paid hours as project needs require.

Specific workdays are scheduled around the studio's project calendar and may shift to accommodate client site visits, installations, photoshoots, and other project needs. Flexibility to support key project days is an important part of this role.

The position is based in our Alexandria studio and includes local travel to client homes, project sites, vendors, and other locations throughout the DC metropolitan area.

Compensation: $21–$23 per hour, commensurate with experience.

The role is part-time with the potential to grow as the studio and position evolve.
