Job description

Your new company
Our client is a growing New York area general contractor generating approximately $10M in annual revenue, with multiple active projects and a strong pipeline of work. The business is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking a hands-on construction leader who can help scale operations while maintaining the entrepreneurial culture and accountability that have driven its success to date.
This is an opportunity to join a company where your impact will be highly visible. Unlike larger organizations with multiple layers of management, this role offers the chance to work closely with ownership, influence operational strategy, develop project teams, and play a key role in shaping the future direction of the business.
Your new role
As a Senior Project Manager / Project Director, you will serve as a key operational leader responsible for both project execution and team management. This role is expected to be approximately 60% project delivery and 40% leadership and operational oversight.
You will directly oversee one or more construction projects while managing project financials, schedules, procurement activities, change orders, client relationships, risk mitigation, and project closeout. In addition, you will provide leadership to Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Superintendents by driving accountability, mentoring staff, conducting regular team meetings, and helping improve internal systems and processes as the company continues to grow.
The successful candidate will work closely with ownership to help manage workload distribution, support bidding and preconstruction efforts, review project performance, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This individual must be comfortable wearing multiple hats and operating in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and initiative are critical.
What you'll need to succeed
  • 8+ years of construction management experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Strong background managing projects from preconstruction through closeout, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contract administration, and client management.
  • Experience leading project teams and field staff while maintaining direct involvement in project execution.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project financial reports.
  • Strong understanding of cost control, risk management, quality assurance, and operational best practices.
  • Proven leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to develop teams, drive accountability, and build positive working relationships.
  • High sense of urgency, ownership, professionalism, and motivation to grow within an expanding business.
  • Experience working within a contractor in the $50M-$150M revenue range is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Excel, and other construction management software.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required; relevant construction experience and leadership capability are the priority.
What you'll get in return
This firm offers a very competitive compensation and benefits package including annual performance bonuses, medical, dental, vision insurance, along with a managed 401K that includes an employer match and a generous PTO package from day one.
