This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can bring structure, accountability, and continuous improvement to a fast-paced hauling environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Own daily hauling operations: route execution, dispatch performance, on-time service, missed pick-up reduction, and recovery plans
  • Lead and develop frontline supervisors, dispatch, and drivers; set clear expectations and performance standards
  • Drive operational rhythm: daily huddles, route audits, ride-alongs, site walk-throughs, and KPI reviews

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce all safety policies and DOT requirements; lead safety meetings, incident investigations, and corrective actions
  • Promote a strong safety culture focused on proactive risk reduction and accountability
  • Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations (DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, etc.)

Fleet & Maintenance Coordination

  • Partner with maintenance to maximize fleet uptime and reduce breakdowns
  • Coordinate PM schedules, out-of-service tracking, and rapid response to equipment issues
  • Support yard organization, container flow, and asset utilization (roll-off, front-load, rear-load, carts)

Customer Service & Service Recovery

  • Collaborate with customer service and sales to resolve escalations and protect retention
  • Own service recovery for missed/late pickups and recurring issues; identify root cause and prevent repeats
  • Support onboarding and execution of new accounts and route starts

Cost Control & Performance Management

  • Manage labor and overtime efficiently while meeting service requirements
  • Improve route productivity and disposal/logistics efficiency
  • Track and report key KPIs (missed stops, downtime, overtime, safety incidents, service levels, cost per route)

Qualifications

  • CDL required (Class A or B acceptable based on fleet/operation); ability to operate equipment as needed for coverage, training, ride-alongs, and service recovery
  • 2+ years of operations leadership experience in waste hauling, logistics, transportation, or field-based service operations (waste industry strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience leading teams of drivers/dispatch/frontline supervisors in a high-volume environment
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT compliance, safety programs, and incident investigation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, make fast decisions, and hold teams accountable
  • Comfortable with KPIs, performance dashboards, route productivity metrics, and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills across field teams, leadership, customers, and internal partners
  • Proficiency with routing/dispatch systems and basic operational reporting tools

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + performance bonus
  • Health/dental/vision, PTO, 401(k)
  • Strong growth path in a performance-driven, expanding organization
