Job description

This is not an entry-level position. Previous veterinary experience and a strong understanding of veterinary medicine are required. Also a working interview is required within 1 week of the phone interview.

Ark is seeking a skilled, motivated, and compassionate Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join our fast-paced mixed animal practice. We serves a diverse caseload including companion animals, pocket pets, equine patients, and livestock.

The ideal candidate is experienced, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of taking initiative in a busy five-exam-room veterinary hospital. Strong technical skills, sound medical knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and client service are essential.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of veterinary hospital experience required
  • Strong animal handling and restraint skills
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, medications, and common procedures
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate the needs of veterinarians and patients

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Perform patient restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, drug calculation, laboratory testing, and radiology
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and assist with anesthesia and surgery
  • Maintain accurate medical records with our cloudbased software
  • Educate clients regarding treatment plans, medications, and preventative care
  • Maintain hospital cleanliness, organization, and inventory list
  • Support efficient patient flow throughout the hospital

Preferred Applicants

  • Veterinary Technician certification/licensure preferred but not required
  • Mixed animal experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with equine and livestock handling is a plus
