Arisa Health's School Based program was cited as the "model" for such programs by the Arkansas Department of Education. These programs are designed to help students in preschool through high school who are facing emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Through individual, group and family therapy, support services, and case management, the school based counselors help children and families reduce the barriers to learning and improve the emotional and behavioral development of the student. By placing counselors in the schools, Arisa Health is able to serve students in a familiar place and with less interruption to their school day. This also helps reduce the costs and travel time by family members. School Based therapists are able to adjust their schedule throughout the week when students are absent to ensure consistent services are provided. Common problems addressed in school based sessions include: difficulty adjusting to a stressful event such as divorce or loss of a loved one and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral challenges, and trauma.
