Senior Engineer – ServiceNow IRM & GRC
Location: Chicago, IL (Local candidates only – No relocation) Type: C2C – Hybrid (Onsite 3x per week) Duration: Long Term Rate: $55/hr on C2C
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Engineer specializing in Integrated Risk Management (IRM) and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) modules. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in ServiceNow platform development, configuration, and implementation of IRM/GRC solutions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, risk teams, and IT partners to design and deliver scalable and compliant risk management frameworks using ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement ServiceNow IRM & GRC modules including Policy & Compliance, Risk Management, Audit Management, and Vendor Risk.
- Develop custom workflows, data models, integrations, and reports within the ServiceNow platform.
- Collaborate with business teams to gather and analyze requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure alignment with governance standards.
- Maintain and optimize existing ServiceNow IRM/GRC applications and enhance functionalities based on evolving business needs.
- Integrate ServiceNow GRC/IRM with other enterprise systems (e.g., Archer, RSA, or CMDB tools).
- Implement continuous improvements, best practices, and automation to streamline risk and compliance processes.
- Conduct platform upgrades, testing, and performance optimization.
- Work in coordination with security and compliance teams to ensure data integrity and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers and analysts.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of total IT experience, with 5+ years in ServiceNow platform development and administration.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in ServiceNow IRM and GRC implementations.
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOX, HIPAA, etc.).
- Proficient in JavaScript, Glide scripting, Flow Designer, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, and Script Includes.
- Experience with ServiceNow IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, and CMDB relationships.
- Experience in configuring and managing Risk Statements, Controls, Issues, Policy Frameworks, and Audit workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Implementation Specialist – Risk and Compliance (CIS-R&C) required or strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SecOps (Security Operations), Vendor Risk Management, or Privacy Management modules.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow IRM data model and reporting dashboards (Performance Analytics).
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Prior experience working in financial, healthcare, or regulated industries.
