Job description

About Arevon
Arevon is a U.S. energy leader committed to powering America with affordable, reliable, and secure homegrown energy. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and with a regional office in New York City, the company's experienced and dedicated team develops, finances, builds, owns, and operates renewable energy projects nationwide. With a strong track record in utility-scale solar and energy storage, Arevon is a trusted partner to utilities and businesses seeking cost-effective, sustainable energy solutions. By prioritizing American manufacturing and domestic energy production, the company invests in U.S. jobs, strengthens local economies, and advances the country's energy independence.
The Position
Arevon is seeking a Senior Manager of Environmental Permitting to lead environmental diligence, regulatory strategy, and compliance efforts across Arevon's growing portfolio of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This position requires hands-on project management, ensuring that each project meets complex permitting and environmental standards on schedule and in full compliance. This position will play a central role in advancing Arevon's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition while maintaining excellence in environmental stewardship.
The successful candidate is a proven environmental permitting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You bring a strong understanding of federal and state regulatory frameworks, a pragmatic problem-solving approach, and the ability to engage effectively with agencies, consultants, and cross-functional teams. You are equally comfortable in the field and in stakeholder meetings that help shape Arevon's long-term development strategy. The Senior Manager of Environmental Permitting will report to Vice President of Environmental Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental permitting efforts for utility-scale solar and storage projects across the United States, from site diligence through construction.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of environmental reports, including wetland delineations, habitat assessments, cultural and historic resource studies, and NEPA documentation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory and resource agencies (e.g., USACE, USFWS, SHPO, BLM, and state equivalents) to secure project approvals and advance consultations.
  • Manage external consultants and contractors, ensuring quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness across deliverables.
  • Partner with internal teams-including Development, M&A, Engineering, Construction, and Operations-to proactively identify permitting risks and implement practical mitigation solutions.
  • Provide permitting risk assessments and project documentation in support of project financing, acquisitions, and investment decisions.
  • Support environmental compliance through construction and operations, ensuring adherence to permit conditions and environmental management plans.
  • Mentor and develop internal environmental staff, fostering technical expertise, professional growth, and collaborative teamwork - leading by example with good ethical discernment.
  • Represent Arevon in public forums, agency meetings, and industry networks to promote transparency, environmental integrity, and renewable energy innovation.
  • Travel up to 10-20% for internal team meetings, industry meetings, project meetings, stakeholder engagement and regulatory coordination.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Environmental Engineering, Policy or Land Use Planning required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in environmental permitting, compliance, or environmental project management within the renewable energy or infrastructure sector.
  • General understanding of environmental laws and regulations, including NEPA, ESA, CWA, NHPA and relevant state permitting processes.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented and effective in a remote team environment.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on project execution in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-state permitting portfolios and consultant teams.
  • Proficiency with environmental and project management tools, GIS and/or permitting-tracking software experience preferred.
  • Experience with industry sustainability efforts such as Monarch CCAA, CBA, veg management plans.
  • Cross-regional experience in U.S. with utility-scale renewable energy development with a primary focus on solar and battery storage preferred.
