Job description

Meyer Utility Structures is currently looking to hire a Systems Developer. The Systems Developer will be the vital delivery link of business and engineering applications to support the Meyer and Arcosa business objectives. This will include supporting and ensuring continuity of systems and software programs throughout the application portfolio through planning, technical design, and application development standards. Key undertakings will include all aspects of our software development lifecycle from planning, analysis, development, testing and deployment supporting ERP, engineering and other business/manufacturing software.

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa subsidiary, is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications. With over sixty years of innovative engineering and manufacturing expertise, Meyer has helped to author and validate many of today’s transmission industry standards and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Business/Systems Analyst(s) to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • Manage a detailed set of requirements to provide biggest impact in advancing business objectives
  • Communicate effectively across multiple constituencies to support project and organizational change objectives
  • Engage developers, business analysts, DBAs and other IT functional roles to ensure productivity and solution quality
  • Create solutions that advance enterprise architectural objectives including an understanding of the dependencies between the layers of the technology stack including compute, data, transactional and analytics.
  • Design solutions for end-user adoption and productivity improvement
  • Project management/work package management
  • Provide direct support to our ERP and Engineering software modules and processes including Continuous Improvement – keeping ahead of and applying best practices in process design and system usage
  • Identify potential project issues and perform project task management including task identification, effort and duration estimates, task dependencies and sequencing, critical path analysis, resource assignment and evaluation, conflict and problem resolution
  • Keep informed of trends in the application system development industry and make recommendations aimed at keeping Meyer’s systems up to date and recommend new ideas to enhance the capability of application software functions
  • Other duties as assigned by the IT Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, C# required
  • API Creation and Integration
  • Object-oriented programming
  • MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
  • PLC’s and SCADA systems
  • TFS experience
  • Crystal Reporting, Power BI Reporting tools preferred
  • FTP/SFTP experience
  • Experience with Microsoft office products, including MS-Visio and MS-Project required

Other Skills/Attributes:

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, strong analysis skills, experience in designing, developing, testing, implementing
  • Ability to mentor other developers; provide input based on past experiences/expertise; “lead by example” to peers/colleagues; a team player with team-building capability
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, define project scope and objectives, assist with project schedules, work with cross functional project team(s) and adhere to project deadlines, while staying within the approved budgeted parameters
  • Ability to travel – up to 25%
  • Strong collaboration skills with ability to collect business requirements and interface with the internal and external user community including various levels of management.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred in the core process domains of planning/scheduling, master data, production, shop floor control, inventory management, distribution, warehouse management and finance.
  • Effective written communication and presentation skills.
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
