Job description

Trust Officer / Senior Trust Officer / Fiduciary Leader – Reno, NV

Summary

Our client is a reputable, national financial services platform with a growing independent trust company seeking an experienced trust professional to join and help expand its Nevada presence. This role is based in Reno and offers flexibility for candidates across experience levels — from an experienced Trust Officer seeking a client-focused role to a senior fiduciary leader capable of helping shape the firm’s Nevada market strategy.

The ideal candidate will have strong trust administration expertise, sound fiduciary judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, advisors, and professional partners. Depending on experience level, this individual may serve as a hands-on trust officer managing client relationships, a senior fiduciary resource overseeing complex trusts, or a market leader helping grow the firm’s presence throughout Nevada and the broader Western wealth management community.

Key Responsibilities

Trust Administration & Fiduciary Oversight

  • Administer trust, estate, agency, and fiduciary relationships in accordance with governing documents, applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Serve as primary trust officer and relationship manager for assigned client accounts.
  • Review trust documents, evaluate fiduciary responsibilities, and provide sound judgment on complex client matters.
  • Support account acceptance reviews, fiduciary risk assessments, and ongoing trust administration decisions.
  • Partner with internal teams including investments, operations, tax, legal, and compliance to deliver high-quality fiduciary solutions.
  • For more senior candidates, provide guidance and leadership on fiduciary practices, complex relationship management, and office growth initiatives.

Client & Advisor Relationship Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with HNW and UHNW individuals, families, and business owners.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients regarding trust administration, wealth transfer strategies, and fiduciary matters.
  • Collaborate with estate planning attorneys, CPAs, RIAs, family offices, and other professional advisors.
  • Deliver a high-touch client experience focused on responsiveness, trust, and long-term relationship development.

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Build relationships within the Nevada wealth management and estate planning community.
  • Support business development initiatives through networking, community involvement, and advisor relationship building.
  • Represent the firm within the Reno, Tahoe, and broader Nevada professional community.
  • For senior-level candidates, help develop market strategy and expand the firm’s presence among sophisticated families and advisors.

Leadership & Operational Support

  • Contribute to a collaborative, client-focused trust office environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and client service delivery.
  • Mentor junior trust professionals and support team development as appropriate.
  • Senior candidates may have responsibility for office leadership, strategic initiatives, and team development.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of trust administration, fiduciary services, or related wealth management experience preferred.
  • Strong candidates may range from experienced Trust Officers to senior fiduciary executives.
  • Experience within an independent trust company, private bank, wealth management firm, or similar fiduciary environment preferred.
  • Experience administering trusts, estates, agency accounts, charitable trusts, or complex fiduciary relationships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fiduciary responsibilities, trust operations, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of trust administration, estate planning concepts, and fiduciary principles.
  • Ability to manage client relationships with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients and professional advisors.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating with internal partners.

Senior-Level Candidates May Also Bring:

  • Experience managing trust teams or office operations.
  • Established relationships within Nevada’s estate planning, wealth management, or professional advisor communities.
  • Experience with UHNW clients, complex trusts, family offices, or closely held business interests.
  • Ability to serve as a market leader and represent the firm externally.

Education & Credentials

  • CTFA designation preferred but not required.
  • Additional fiduciary, estate planning, legal, or wealth management credentials are a plus.
