Job description

AGENCY DESCRIPTION:

AncoraTN (ATN), formerly End Slavery Tennessee, works tirelessly to nurture survivor healing and strategically combat human trafficking in Middle Tennessee. We seek to break cycles of exploitation and support survivors of human trafficking as they heal from their traumas offering long-term, comprehensive aftercare services. Through training communities and professionals, advocating for legal changes, and implementing prevention programming, AncoraTN works to stop human trafficking before it ever begins.

AncoraTN was founded in 2012 as a faith-based, not-for-profit organization for the purpose of community awareness and education. REPORTS TO: Chief Development and Marketing Officer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Annual Giving & Grants Manager is responsible for advancing AncoraTN's philanthropic revenue through institutional funding and individual donor engagement. Serving as the primary staff lead for AncoraTN's grants program, this position manages the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, reporting, compliance coordination, funder stewardship, and renewal.

Approximately 75% of the position is focused on grants and institutional funding, with the remaining 25% dedicated to individual donor cultivation and annual giving support. The Manager will cultivate and steward a select portfolio of annual and mid-level donors with the goal of strengthening relationships, increasing donor retention, and identifying opportunities for increased giving.

Reporting to the Chief Development & Marketing Officer, the Annual Giving & Grants Manager works collaboratively with program, finance, marketing, and development staff to develop compelling funding requests, ensure accurate and timely reporting, strengthen relationships with institutional and individual funders, and support AncoraTN's broader fundraising strategy.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and organized relationship-builder who can manage complex grant deadlines while also developing meaningful relationships with funders and individual donors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grant & Institutional Funding (75%) oLead and manage AncoraTN's institutional grants program.

  • Research and qualify prospective private, corporate, community, state, federal, and other institutional funding opportunities. oDevelop, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, applications, renewals, and supporting materials.
  • Maintain the annual grants calendar and ensure proposals, renewals, reports, and other funder requirements are completed accurately and on time. oPrepare grant reports and coordinate collection of program outcomes, impact data, financial information, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance on grant budgets, expenditures, financial reporting, restricted funding, and compliance requirements. oSupport compliance and reporting requirements associated with federal, state, and other government funding.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with assigned institutional funders through regular communication, meetings, and updates, and site visits. oMaintain accurate records of proposals, awards, restrictions, reporting requirements, funding history, and funder communications.
  • Monitor existing grants for renewal opportunities and develop renewal strategies. oMaintain and continually develop a qualified pipeline of prospective institutional funding opportunities.
  • Evaluate prospective opportunities for mission alignment, organizational capacity, funding potential, and reporting requirements. oProvide regular grant pipeline, funding forecast, and reporting updates to the Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Work collaboratively with program leadership to understand program needs, outcomes, impact, and emerging funding opportunities.
  • Individual Giving & Donor Cultivation (25%) oManage a select portfolio of annual and mid-level donors identified for increased engagement and giving potential.

  • Build relationships with assigned donors through calls, meetings, personalized correspondence, stewardship, and other meaningful touchpoints. oDevelop individualized cultivation, stewardship, renewal, and upgrade strategies for assigned donors.
  • Conduct appropriate donor solicitations and encourage increased or recurring giving when appropriate. oIdentify donors with leadership or major-gift potential and coordinate next steps with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Support AncoraTN's annual giving initiatives through personalized donor outreach, cultivation, and campaign follow-up. oSupport strategies to grow recurring and monthly giving among assigned donors.
  • Maintain accurate donor interactions, interests, notes, next steps, and relationship information in the CRM.
  • Collaborate with Development and Marketing on broader donor retention and stewardship strategies.
  • Other Duties

  • Maintain positive and professional working relationships through effective communication, collaboration, mutual trust, and support of organizational leadership, while contributing to a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
  • All positions at AncoraTN interact with survivors of human trafficking from day to day. This issue is sensitive and complex. Every employee is trained in trauma-informed and strength-based approaches in order to connect with and build appropriate and encouraging relationships with survivors.     WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This position is a hybrid position with some in-office requirements for in-person meetings and events. Work is carried out primarily in an office setting with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, and some light physical activity. Most work is performed while sitting and using the computer, phone, and engaged in face-to-face conversation with staff and/or clients. Some car travel and use of personal vehicle is required. Telecommuting arrangements may be discontinued at any time at the discretion of the organization and/or supervisor.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, English, public administration, business, marketing, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. oMinimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, foundation relations, or development.
  • Demonstrated success researching, writing, and securing competitive grant proposals. oExperience managing grant reporting, compliance, and post-award stewardship.
  • Experience coordinating multiple grant deadlines and managing a grant calendar. oStrong understanding of private, corporate, community, and institutional grantmaking.
  • Excellent written, editing, and verbal communication skills. oStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with donor databases/CRMs and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with funders, donors, or other external stakeholders.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience managing federal, state, and local government grants, including reporting and compliance requirements. oExperience developing grant budgets in partnership with finance staff.
  • Experience managing annual giving campaigns or donor stewardship initiatives. oExperience cultivating relationships with foundations and institutional funders.
  • Experience managing a donor portfolio and conducting donor meetings or stewardship calls. oExperience with Neon CRM or similar donor management software.
  • Familiarity with fundraising best practices, donor moves management, and annual giving strategies.
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
      1.Initial and subsequent random drug screening is required as per agency policy.
      2.A background check is required.

    JOB TYPE:

    Part time, not to exceed 28 hours per week. Some travel may be required.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    Hourly Rate: $30/hour
