Position Overview:
We are seeking an experiencedย Project Accountantย to manage all project-level accounting functions while acting as a key liaison between the Accounting and Project Management teams. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate billing, job costing, and financial reporting across assigned projects, with hands-on responsibility forย Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and joint check processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain organized project contract and accounting files
- Prepare and review AIA G702 & G703 billings
- Manageย Accounts Receivable, including client invoicing, collections, and payment tracking
- Manageย Accounts Payable, including subcontractor and vendor invoices and payment processing
- Prepare and administerย joint checksย in accordance with contract and lien requirements
- Coordinate subcontractor invoices and payments per contract terms
- Review project labor and expense charges with Project Managers
- Analyze job costs and generate detailed project cost reports
- Review subcontractor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Provide complete backup billing for CM and affordable housing projects
- Interact professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams
- Utilize Timberline (BL, PJ, JC, AP modules) for project accounting
- Support accurate and timely financial reporting
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in construction or project accounting
- Strong hands-on experience withย Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and joint checks
- Experience supportingย multi-family and/or affordable housing projectsย strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of cost coding, pricing, purchase orders, and job costing
- Proficiency with Timberline (Sage 300) and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range (CA): $90,000 โ $120,000 annually
