The Amherst County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to assist with inmate work crews performing grounds maintenance, beautification, and community improvement projects throughout Amherst County.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to assist with inmate work crews performing grounds maintenance, beautification, and community improvement projects throughout Amherst County.

What You'll Do
- Assist with directing and monitoring inmate work crews assigned to community service projects
- Assist with maintaining public properties, roadways, parks, and community areas
- Operate and maintain equipment including mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, blowers, and other landscaping tools
- Perform grounds maintenance, landscaping, brush removal, mowing, trimming, and general beautification projects
- Load, unload, transport, and maintain equipment and materials
- Perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, digging, clearing debris, and other physically demanding tasks
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Sheriff's Office standards
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and rain
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift heavy objects
- Experience operating lawn care, landscaping, or power equipment preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance preferred
- Ability to interact professionally with staff, inmates, and the public
