About the Organization

At Amada Counseling Center, we are committed to enhancing the mental well-being of older adults. Our focus is on providing tailored counseling and therapy for seniors facing challenges related to loss, life transitions, and age-related issues. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and understanding environment for both our clients and our staff, where empathy and collaboration are paramount.

As a remote position, this role allows you to work from the comfort of your home while remaining connected with our outpatient office in Kent, Washington. You'll take part in regular virtual meetings with your healthcare team to coordinate care, support one another, and share insights on best practices in geriatric mental health counseling. We embrace technology that facilitates effective communication and allows for documenting and tracking patient progress efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly patients, carefully identifying their unique psychological needs.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions to help seniors navigate emotional challenges associated with aging, such as anxiety, grief, and life transitions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to formulate and implement individualized care plans that address both mental and physical health needs.
  • Engage with families and caregivers, providing them with educational resources and strategies to support their loved ones’ emotional well-being.
  • Deliver grief counseling and support to residents and families dealing with bereavement and end-of-life issues.
  • Develop and implement cognitive stimulation and intervention programs that promote mental acuity and emotional resilience in older adults.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary clients you will serve are seniors within our outpatient program, facing various mental health challenges ranging from depression and anxiety to the complexities of co-occurring disorders tied to aging. Understanding the unique social, emotional, and health challenges faced by older adults will be essential in tailoring your therapeutic interventions effectively.

Qualifications

To qualify for this important role at Amada Counseling Center, candidates should possess:

  • A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in mental health counseling, particularly with geriatric populations.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic interventions designed to support mental health in older adults.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with elderly clients and their families.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly advantageous:

  • Additional training or certifications in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues.
  • Experience in an outpatient or supportive care setting focusing on aging populations.
  • A background in community outreach or engagement with senior centers, hospitals, or similar organizations.
Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 65,000 to USD 95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will receive a sign-on bonus to complement your compensation package. Beyond salary, you will also have access to:

  • An employee assistance program providing confidential counseling services to promote personal well-being.
  • Wellness resources and programs to help maintain a healthy work-life balance.
  • Supplemental health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts to cover healthcare expenses.
