Job Title: Urban Beekeeper 
Location: Toronto - On-site
Type of contract: Seasonal, Full-time (40h/week)
Starting date: Seasonal contract from March 1, 2026 to December 1, 2026 
Starting Salary: 22.33$/hour
 
About the role
 
Reporting to the Beekeeping Territory Lead, the Urban Beekeeper manages a selection of client accounts and manages their honeybee and/or other service. This is a 40h a week position in accordance with Alveole's current policies.
  
What you'll do as an Urban Beekeeper: 
 
Client Experience
  • Follow Alveole standard operating procedures to ensure high quality service and client experience.
  • Build relationships with businesses, schools and other organizations in person and online using Alveole platforms.
  • Manage client accounts, acting as their main point of contact including onboarding, communications, engagement and feedback.
  • Manage client projects across all Alveole services: honey beehives, hotels for bees and pollinator-friendly gardens. Tasks include installation, routine maintenance, data collection, pest / parasite control and facilitating educational workshops.
  • Represent Alveole and our mission to connect people in cities to nature by sharing your passion with clients, media and members of the public.
City expansion
  • Support management of facilities including yards for honey beehives, warehouse, workspace and vehicles.
  • Coordinate logistics in conjunction with international team members including harvest, extraction, data collection and product fulfillment.
  • Contribute to the development of city project sales including canvassing, site feasibility visits and asking current clients for referrals.
  • Be aware of internal Sales strategies
  • Meet personal and professional goals and objectives set by the Beekeeping Team Manager and Lead Beekeeper. 
  • Communicate regularly with the Beekeeping Team Manager and Lead Beekeeper for planning, support and problem-solving.
  • Handle miscellaneous duties, clerical tasks and responsibilities as defined by the Beekeeping Team Manager and Lead Beekeeper.
  • Respect your city's budget.
Beekeeping & Urban Greening
  • Maintain multiple honey beehives at client sites and in yards on a "cycle" basis, carrying out a variety of tasks to support bee health throughout the beekeeping season.
  • Adhere to best practices when carrying out a variety of tasks to support honey bee health throughout the beekeeping season including record-keeping.
  • Contribute to the internal development of wild bee and urban greening expertise in your city.
  • Drive regularly in your city including to client sites, yards, equipment and bee suppliers.
  • Organize, clean and maintain equipment, supplies and storage space regularly.
  • Attend regular internal training sessions to build skills and knowledge about bees, beekeeping and urban greening.
What we are looking for : 
 
Essential
  • Interest in pollinators, beekeeping, urban greening and/or Environmental Social Governance.
  • Valid driver's license since more than 3 years with a clean driving record. Comfortable driving in cities.
  • Comfortable with the reality of beekeeping hazards (stings, heavy lifting, inclement weather, etc.) 
  • Heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs)
  • Comfortable working at heights (training is provided).
  • Comfortable using online communications tools e.g. Gmail, Google Workspace, Slack.
  • Comfortable with public speaking or presenting to a group.
  • Willingness to work occasional early mornings and/or late evenings depending on season needs
  • Results-driven, goal-oriented and autonomous. 
  • Resourceful with a demonstrated ability to anticipate change and proactively adjust priorities and strategies accordingly. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • "Start-up" mentality; willingness to get involved in all aspects of the business.
  • Comfortable working alone as well as with a large team.
  • Comfortable with remote working.
Bonus points if you have 
  • Customer Relationship Management platform experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Beekeeping experience.

A propos du role : 
 

Relevant dude la Responsable de Territoire, l'Apiculteurtrice Urbaine gere un portefeuille de clients et supervise leurs projets d'apiculture urbaine et/ou autres services. Ce poste est a temps plein, conformement aux politiques en vigueur chez Alveole.

Ce que vous ferez en tant qu'Apiculteur.trice Urbain.e :

Experience client
  • Interagir avec les clients sur site et suivre les procedures operationnelles standard d'Alveole afin d'assurer un service de haute qualite et une excellente experience client, que ce soit sur leurs sites ou lors de representations dans la communaute.
  • Entretenir des relations avec les entreprises, les ecoles et autres organisations, en personne et en ligne, via les plateformes d'Alveole.
  • Assurer la communication avec les clients par le biais d'echanges en personne, d'engagements et de recueils de retroaction.
  • Gerer les projets clients pour tous les services d'Alveole : ruches urbaines, hotels a insectes et jardins favorables aux pollinisateurs. Les taches incluent l'installation, l'entretien regulier, la collecte de donnees, la gestion des nuisibles et parasites ainsi que l'animation d'ateliers educatifs.
  • Representer Alveole et sa mission de reconnecter les citadins a la nature en partageant votre passion avec les clients, les medias et le grand public.
Developpement de la Ville
  • Soutenir la gestion des installations, incluant les ruchers, l'entrepot, l'espace de travail et les vehicules.
  • Contribuer au developpement des ventes de projets dans la ville, notamment par de la prospection, des visites de faisabilite de sites et la demande de recommandations aupres des clients existants.
  • Atteindre les objectifs fixes par le/la Responsable de Territoire.
  • Communiquer regulierement avec le/la Responsable de Territoire pour la planification, le soutien et la resolution de problemes.
  • Effectuer diverses taches administratives et autres responsabilites definies par lela Responsable de Territoire Apicole.
  • Respecter le budget alloue pour votre ville.

Apiculture 

  • Entretenir plusieurs ruches chez les clients et dans les ruchers selon un cycle defini, en effectuant diverses taches visant a preserver la sante des colonies tout au long de la saison apicole.
  • Appliquer les meilleures pratiques en matiere d'apiculture, incluant la tenue de registres.
  • Contribuer au developpement interne des connaissances sur les abeilles sauvages et le verdissement urbain dans votre ville.
  • Conduire regulierement en ville, notamment pour se rendre chez les clients, aux ruchers, aux equipements et aux fournisseurs d'abeilles.
  • Organiser, nettoyer et entretenir l'equipement, les fournitures et l'espace de stockage regulierement.
  • Assister a des formations internes regulieres pour developper ses competences et connaissances en apiculture et verdissement urbain.

Ce que nous recherchons :

Essentielles 

  • Interet pour les pollinisateurs, l'apiculture, le verdissement urbain et/ou la gouvernance environnementale et sociale (ESG).
  • Permis de conduire valide depuis au moins 3 ans avec un dossier de conduite vierge. A l'aise avec la conduite en milieu urbain.
  • A l'aise avec les realites du metier d'apiculteurtrice (piqures, port de charges lourdes, conditions meteorologiques difficiles, etc.).
  • Soulever des charges lourdes (jusqu'a 40 lb)
  • A l'aise avec le travail en hauteur (une formation est offerte).
  • A l'aise avec l'utilisation d'outils de communication en ligne (ex. : Gmail, Google Workspace, Slack).
  • A l'aise avec la prise de parole en public ou l'animation de groupes.
  • Disponible pour travailler occasionnellement tot le matin ou tard le soir selon les besoins saisonniers.
