Alpine Propane

We are a locally owned and operated Northern Michigan propane company seeking a Propane Service Technician. A Propane Service Technician is responsible for the safe installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of propane gas systems for residential and commercial clients. This role requires technical expertise, adherence to safety regulations, and strong customer service skills. The ideal candidate will hold the necessary endorsements for Class B CDL with Hazmat, tanker and air brakes endorsement, and will work independently while adhering strictly to hazmat-specific safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Installation & Maintenance: Install propane storage tanks, gas lines, regulators, meters, and perform routine maintenance on propane systems
• Testing & Inspections: Conduct leak and pressure tests, ensure compliance with state, and local regulations, and place systems in/out of service as needed
• Customer Service: Educate customers on proper operation, maintenance, and safety of propane equipment; respond to service calls promptly
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service calls, tests, inspections, and parts inventory
• Vehicle & Equipment Use: Operate company service vehicles and equipment safely; perform routine maintenance and inspections
• Special Projects: Assist with propane deliveries, special installations, and other assigned tasks
• Environment: Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on-site at customer locations

Required Qualifications

• Class B CDL with Hazmat endorsement
• Tanker endorsement
• Air brake endorsement
• Experience in commercial driving and hazardous materials handling
• Knowledge of tanker operation and air brake systems
• Strong customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial driving experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
