Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Fiber Optic Splicer. The Fiber Optic Splicer will be responsible for splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic cables to ensure optimal signal quality and network performance. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting network plans, preparing cables and enclosures, performing fusion and mechanical splicing, and documenting work in accordance with company standards. The role also involves working with hand tools and test equipment, collaborating with project managers and field teams, and following all safety and quality procedures. While the position is remote in terms of administrative and reporting responsibilities, candidates should expect regular on-site field work at various project locations.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills working with fiber optic cables and related cabling.
  • Candidates should possess skills in structured cabling for telecommunications or data networks.
  • Candidates should possess basic knowledge of electricity and safe work practices around electrical components.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency using hand tools and equipment commonly used in cable preparation and splicing.
  • Experience with fiber optic splicing (fusion and mechanical), OTDR and light meter testing, and interpreting network schematics.
  • Ability to work in the field, travel to job sites as needed, and perform tasks in varied outdoor and indoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to follow technical instructions and safety protocols.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in fiber optics or telecommunications are beneficial.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, where required for site travel.
