About the Role:
Reporting to the Ohio Director, the Campaign Manager works with All Voting state & national staff and relevant coalition partners in support of voter access in Ohio. This position will work to establish and coordinate All Votingโ€™s response to the unique and critical threats to election administration. The Campaign Manager is responsible for organizing in-state groups and leaders around how election decisions (from legislation to policy) could pave the way for an acute election crisis. The posture can be offensive (e.g.: pushing for expanded ballot access) or defensive (responding to actions taken that would take citizensโ€™ voting rights away.) This position involves work for both All Voting and AVL Action.ย 

Core Role Responsibilities:

Campaign Development & Management

  • Implements, develops & executes campaign plans to educate and activate coalition partners and other stakeholders in support of election administration reform, expanding & protecting ballot access, removing barriers to the ballot, and countering election sabotage in Ohio. Campaign development is done in coordination with the State Director and Compliance Counsel.ย ย 
  • Identifies and develops campaigns to further engage and mobilize partners on voting rights.
  • Drafts and acts as Owner on campaign plans, presenting them to the larger All Voting team, executing strategies and tactics, and tracking the campaignโ€™s impact.
  • Partners with comms & policy teams to create digital content, press releases, talking points, etc.
  • May act as a spokesperson for the state and participate in media events.
  • Supports State Directors in strategic planning and budgeting.ย 
  • Tracking the impacts of our work and our wins.
  • Tracking election timelines and dates, and aligning with / updating All Voting calendar
  • Administering Election Protection programs including:ย 
    • Poll monitoring
    • Voter protection hotline (ticketing) on Election Day
    • Canvas board monitoring

Coalition Management

  • Collaborate and work closely with the existing network of civil and voting rights organizations to mobilize their volunteers in support of campaigns.
  • Expands our network of grassroots partners in state, manages relationships within the stateโ€™s coalition, and plays a leading role in representing the organization and acting as lead contact for partners.
  • Build capacities of our partner organizations and state entitiesย 
  • Writing and managing subgrants, including reportingย 
  • Organize and execute organization and coalitionโ€™s rapid responses to emerging threats
  • Co-lead working groups within state voting rights coalition
  • Tracking resource gaps among coalition partners

Policyย 

  • Evaluate, propose, recommend and/or design policies for voter impact
  • Serve as trusted messenger among election officials, the media
  • Direct Advocacy / Lobbying
    • Represents All Voting is Local at coalition, governmental, and stakeholder meetings.
    • Draft/compile research advocacy reports
  • Create, build, develop, and maintain relationships with members of the press, on and off the record;
  • Track legislationย 

Core Organizational Responsibilities:

  • Navigate and utilize All Voting's various platforms (e.g.: Asana, Google Workspace, Slack) and methods (M.O.C.H.A.) to see work through to satisfactory completion.
  • Liaise with All Voting team members, as necessary, on communication, follow-up, and other applicable projects, initiatives, and deliverables.
  • Regular travel to convenings, conferences, and critical meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.ย 

Advanced Role Responsibilities:
These are high-level, strategic, or project-based tasks requiring specialized skill, initiative, or leadership.

  • Mentor and lead other campaign manager(s) - intra-state and/or cross-state
  • Lead legislative strategy; identify key policy makers, coordinate lobbying efforts, attend relevant committee meetings, create and distribute legislative messaging and talking points for coalition
  • Manage volunteer base of partner organizations toward a shared larger goal
  • Talk with funders about the work of All Voting and All Voting is Local Action.
  • As a part of building capacities of our partner organizations & state entities, coach their leaders through building plans

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 years of policy/organizing/campaign experience, preferably in an area related to voting.
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree or equivalent
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
  • Thinks creatively and finds solutions.ย 
  • Manages assignment and solves problems quickly and efficiently.ย 
  • Possesses strong training experience, planning and organizational skills, and interpersonal abilities.ย ย 

Advanced Qualifications & Competencies | Not Required:

  • Masterโ€™s Degreeย 
  • Fluency in a second language.
  • Trained in De-Escalation
  • Experience leading a coalition
  • Experience with opposition research

Location:
This position is currently remote, though the Campaign Manager must reside in Ohio.
