Role Description The Shop Assistant role is a full-time, on-site position based in Horseheads, NY. The Shop Assistant supports daily operations in the sign shop, including preparing materials, assisting with fabrication, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. Responsibilities may include basic assembly, packaging, loading and unloading materials, and helping technicians with tools and equipment needed for installations. The role also involves following work orders, labeling products accurately, and collaborating with team members to meet project deadlines. The Shop Assistant is expected to support a culture of safety, reliability, and high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic hands-on shop tasks, including measuring, cutting, lifting, and assembling materials safely.
• Comfort working with hand tools and power tools, and willingness to learn new fabrication and installation techniques.
• Strong attention to detail for labeling, organizing inventory, and following work orders accurately.
• Reliable time management skills with the ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Effective communication skills and a cooperative approach to working with technicians and other team members.
• Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift moderate weights for extended periods as part of daily shop activities.
• Previous experience in a sign shop, manufacturing, or similar production environment is beneficial but not required.
• Welding and/or industrial painting experience a plus
