Job description

We are looking for experienced Shipfitters to join our team! The ideal candidates are skilled in reading blueprints, fabricating structural components, and working safely in a fast-paced shipyard environment. If you take pride in precision fitting and building quality vessels, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and marine structural drawings

  • Fit, align, and fabricate metal components such as bulkheads, decks, frames, foundations, and other structural parts

  • Use cutting tools, grinders, torches, and measuring instruments to prepare materials

  • Install foundations, pads, brackets, stiffeners, and other structural assemblies

  • Perform layout work using straightedges, squares, levels, and other precision tools

  • Burn, tack, and fit steel in accordance with shipyard standards and welding requirements

  • Inspect completed work to ensure alignment, fit, and compliance with specifications

  • Work in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights as required

  • Follow all safety rules including PPE usage, fire watch procedures, and hazard awareness

Qualifications

  • Shipfitting or structural fitting experience required

  • Ability to read and interpret marine blueprints and schematics

  • Proficiency with cutting, grinding, burning, and fitting tools

  • Understanding of ship construction standards and terminology

  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, and work in varying environments

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Ability to meet production goals while maintaining quality and safety

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on scaffolding, and in elevated areas

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods
