Airbyte Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science, data modeling, and programming languages such as Python or Java, often coupled with a relevant degree. Familiarity with ETL tools, big data frameworks (like Hadoop or Spark), and cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure) is typically required, along with certifications like AWS Certified Data Analytics. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication set exceptional data engineers apart. These skills and qualities are essential for building robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and supporting data-driven decision-making across organizations.

How do Data Engineers typically collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts within an organization?

Data Engineers play a crucial role in ensuring that Data Scientists and Analysts have reliable, well-structured data for their projects. This collaboration often involves building and maintaining data pipelines, optimizing data storage solutions, and troubleshooting data quality issues. Regular communication and agile teamwork are common, with Data Engineers frequently participating in meetings to understand analytical requirements and adjust data processes accordingly. By working closely together, these teams can quickly iterate on data models and deliver actionable insights to drive business decisions.

What are Data Engineers?

Data Engineers are IT professionals who design, construct, install, and maintain large-scale processing systems and other infrastructure for collecting, storing, and analyzing data. They build and optimize data pipelines and architectures that allow organizations to efficiently access and use data for business insights. Data Engineers work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is reliable, accessible, and secure. Their responsibilities often include working with databases, cloud platforms, and big data tools.

What is the difference between Data Engineer vs Data Scientist?

AspectData EngineerData Scientist
Primary FocusBuilding and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructureAnalyzing data to extract insights and create models
SkillsSQL, ETL, programming (Python, Java), database managementStatistics, machine learning, data analysis, programming (Python, R)
Work EnvironmentData warehouses, cloud platforms, backend systemsData analysis environments, research labs, visualization tools
Common ToolsApache Spark, Hadoop, Airflow, SQLJupyter, RStudio, Tableau, scikit-learn

Data Engineers focus on creating and maintaining the infrastructure that allows data to be collected, stored, and processed efficiently. Data Scientists analyze this data to generate insights, build predictive models, and support decision-making. While their skills overlap, Data Engineers are more involved in data pipeline development, whereas Data Scientists focus on data analysis and modeling.

Job description

Airbyte is the opensource standard for data movement. We've enabled data teams to move data from applications, APIs, unstructured sources and databases to data warehouses, lakes, and AI applications. With tens of thousands of connectors built and hundreds of thousands of companies adopting Airbyte, we've proven the economics of data integration at scale. And now Airbyte is building the frontier agentic data infrastructure, purpose-built for AI agents that need fast, accurate access to data across hundreds of sources. Our mission: make data available and actionable, everywhere.

We've raised $181M from the world's top investors (Benchmark, Accel, Altimeter, Coatue, Y Combinator, etc.) and we believe in product-led growth, where we build something awesome that all our users love. We've raised enough capital to explore boldly, but we still choose to move quickly, stay scrappy, and experiment constantly as we find the right paths in an AI-native landscape.

The Role:

You'll be the Senior GTM Engineer embedded within Airbyte's go-to-market organization, building the systems, workflows, and AI agents that turn product, community, and intent signals into pipeline.

This is a hands-on senior technical role partnering closely with Marketing, BDRs, Sales, and Data Engineering. You'll own the workflows that identify, enrich, score, route, and activate the right accounts at the right time, with a particular focus on outbound workflows and GTM automation. You'll also build AI-powered internal tooling and agents that help our GTM teams move faster and operate more effectively.

We expect people in this role to actively use AI as a force multiplier - to automate repetitive work, improve workflow quality, and build smarter internal systems. We care as much about how you work as what you build. Ownership, resourcefulness, judgment, and the ability to operate independently matter here.

What You'll Do:
  • Own the systems that turn product, community, and intent signals into actionable GTM workflows.

  • Build and maintain enrichment, scoring, routing, and activation workflows across the GTM stack, with a strong focus on outbound workflows that improve SDR and AE efficiency.

  • Design and build AI agents and AI-powered internal tools that support account research, persona-based messaging, outbound execution, inbound triage, and overall GTM efficiency.

  • Partner with Marketing, SDRs, Sales, and Data Engineering to make product and usage signals usable for go-to-market teams.

  • Evaluate, implement, and maintain key GTM tooling and workflows across systems like Salesforce, Common Room, Clay, Snowflake, and other automation platforms.

  • Improve data quality, workflow reliability, and operational visibility across GTM systems.

  • Support campaign, event, and lifecycle workflows with better automation, attribution, and routing.

  • Help define best practices and raise the bar for how GTM systems and automation are built and maintained across the organization.

What You'll Need:
  • 4+ years in GTM Engineering, Revenue Operations, Growth Engineering, Sales Engineering, or a closely adjacent technical role.

  • Experience working in a modern B2B SaaS go-to-market environment, ideally in a high-growth company.

  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce, GTM workflows, and data flow across systems.

  • Comfort working with APIs, automation tools, workflow orchestration, and system integrations.

  • Ability to work with SQL, schemas, enrichment logic, and data transformation concepts.

  • Experience building AI-powered workflows, internal tools, or AI agents that support business processes in production or near-production environments.

  • Fluency with AI tools - LLMs and agentic workflows to automate work, prototype quickly, and improve execution.

  • A startup-ready mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, and owning problems end-to-end.

  • Strong judgment and ability to independently drive projects from idea through implementation.

Nice To Have:
  • Experience with PLG signals, product usage data, or community-driven GTM motions.

  • Experience in developer tools, data infrastructure, or technical B2B SaaS.

  • Experience with tools like Common Room, Clay, Snowflake, Trigger.dev, or similar modern GTM platforms.

  • Experience building AI-powered internal tools or agent-based workflows.

  • Experience supporting SDR, AE, or lifecycle marketing workflows in a high-volume outbound environment.

Location:
  • Onsite 5 days/week in San Francisco, CA

If you find this role exciting, we encourage you to apply even if you think you don't meet all of the requirements!
