Job Summary

The Copper Pipe Welder / Brazing Technician will work under the supervision of the Lead Welder to braze, install, test, and repair copper piping systems in accordance with project plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to producing high-quality work on commercial and industrial HVAC projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review contract plans and specifications to develop a complete understanding of the assigned work.

  • Plan, lay out, install, and/or repair all types of copper piping in accordance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.

  • Perform brazing on copper pipes using proper techniques, tools, and materials.

  • Secure components using bolts, clamps, or temporary supports prior to brazing.

  • Test installed piping systems and ensure proper function in compliance with project requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all established safety protocols.

  • Identify potential safety hazards for yourself or others and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize risks.

  • Utilize hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble, and install copper piping accurately.

  • Produce work that consistently meets quality standards, project specifications, and industry codes.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of brazing copper piping experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools related to copper pipe assembly and brazing.

  • Knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards for copper piping installation.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work safely and follow established safety protocols.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work under supervision.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and work with piping and materials as required.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Exposure to fabrication and construction environments, including loud noise, heat, and fumes.

  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, boots, and flame-resistant clothing when applicable.
