Job description
The Director, Cost of Care Solutions is responsible for operationalizing enterprise Cost of Care strategies by leading the deployment, optimization, evaluation, and scaling of assigned solution domains across agilon's markets. This role serves as the operational owner for designated enterprise Cost of Care solutions, translating strategic priorities into repeatable operational capabilities that improve adoption, implementation effectiveness, and performance.
Working closely with Market Presidents, physician organizations, Product, Analytics, Technology, Clinical Operations, and other enterprise stakeholders, the Director ensures Cost of Care solutions are effectively deployed, continuously optimized, and consistently adopted across the organization. The role serves as the primary operational link between enterprise strategy and market execution, bringing field insights back to enterprise teams to continuously strengthen solution design and implementation.
While Market Leadership retains ownership of market performance outcomes, this role ensures the tools, frameworks, and deployment support are in place for markets to succeed - enabling execution.
This position reports to the Vice President, Cost of Care. This is a remote position requiring regular travel to agilon markets. Travel of up to 50% should be expected based on implementation priorities, optimization engagements, market support needs, and enterprise initiatives.
Enterprise Solution Enablement- Serve as the operational lead for assigned enterprise Cost of Care solution domains throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, optimization, scaling, and continuous improvement.
- Translate enterprise strategies into scalable operational models that can be consistently implemented across diverse markets.
- Develop implementation frameworks, operational playbooks, and standardized operating approaches that support successful execution while allowing appropriate market flexibility.
- Evaluate solution effectiveness and recommend operational enhancements that improve adoption, sustainability, and overall impact.
- Lead deployment of enterprise Cost of Care initiatives across markets, partnering with Market Presidents, physician leaders, practice leadership, and operational teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Conduct structured market optimization engagements to assess implementation maturity, identify operational barriers, and advance markets toward enterprise best practices.
- Assess market readiness and recommend deployment sequencing, implementation approaches, and optimization priorities.
- Support markets through complex implementation challenges while fostering local ownership and long-term sustainability.
- Develop and maintain an enterprise approach for assessing market maturity, identifying operational variation, and prioritizing optimization opportunities across assigned solution domains.
- Identify variation in solution deployment and operational performance across markets and develop recommendations to improve consistency and effectiveness.
- Analyze workflows, provider engagement, and operational barriers to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish feedback loops that continuously strengthen enterprise solutions based on market experience and implementation learnings.
- Evaluate pilot initiatives and provide recommendations regarding operational readiness for broader enterprise deployment and scale.
- Partner with Product, Analytics, Technology, Clinical Operations, Network, and Market leadership to coordinate successful implementation of enterprise Cost of Care solutions.
- Influence stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization to remove barriers, build alignment, and accelerate execution.
- Represent operational and market perspectives during enterprise solution design to ensure initiatives are practical, scalable, and sustainable.
- Facilitate collaboration between enterprise and market teams to drive consistent execution and continuous improvement.
- Provide regular updates regarding deployment progress, implementation effectiveness, adoption trends, operational risks, and optimization opportunities.
- Develop executive-ready recommendations supported by operational insights, market feedback, and performance analysis.
- Recommend deployment strategies, implementation priorities, and operational improvements that support enterprise Cost of Care objectives.
- Partner with the Vice President, Cost of Care to continuously refine enterprise solutions based on organizational priorities and market needs.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Foster collaborative relationships across enterprise and market teams.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, accountability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Understand, adhere to, and implement Company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, physician practice operations, population health, care management, value-based care, clinical operations, or related healthcare environments.
- Demonstrated success implementing and operationalizing complex initiatives across multiple sites, markets, or business units.
- Experience partnering directly with physicians, practice leadership, and operational leaders to improve clinical or operational performance.
- Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives within highly matrixed organizations.
- Experience driving organizational change, operational improvement, and stakeholder engagement across multiple levels of an organization.
- Experience supporting physician organizations participating in value-based care or risk-based payment models.
- Experience developing and scaling operational programs across geographically dispersed markets.
- Experience leading implementation, optimization, or transformation initiatives in physician-centric healthcare organizations.
- Strong operational leadership with the ability to translate enterprise strategy into measurable execution.
- Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills, particularly with physicians and operational leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence without direct authority.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate data into operational action.
- Experience developing scalable operating models, implementation frameworks, and operational playbooks.
- Excellent executive communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to balance enterprise standardization with market-specific operational realities.
