Associate Attorney – Family Law

Our client, a boutique family law firm in downtown Chicago, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed attorney who wants hands-on litigation experience, direct client exposure, and the ability to build a strong long-term career in family law.

The ideal candidate is hardworking, curious, coachable, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving litigation environment.

Prior family law experience is helpful, but not required. The firm is open to training the right attorney who brings strong judgment, work ethic, and a genuine desire to become an excellent litigator.

What You’ll Do

• Handle a range of family law matters, including divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, maintenance, parenting time, and related litigation
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and client communications
• Prepare for and attend court hearings, conferences, mediations, and client meetings
• Work closely with the firm’s principal attorney on strategy, case preparation, and client management
• Manage smaller matters with increasing independence as experience grows
• Learn the practical, strategic, and litigation side of family law in a highly hands-on environment

What We’re Looking For

• Licensed attorney in Illinois
• Strong work ethic and willingness to put in the time required to learn and grow
• Comfortable with litigation, conflict, pressure, and fast-moving case demands
• Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
• High attention to detail and ownership over work product
• Professional confidence and the ability to think on your feet
• Interest in family law and client advocacy
• Prior family law or litigation experience preferred, but not required

Compensation

• Base salary: approximately $95,000–$105,000, depending on experience
• Additional productivity-based compensation for billable hours above weekly expectations
• Additional earning opportunity for associates who originate business
• Strong long-term earning potential for high performers
